Just a quick update: the first donations to local 02-related families who lost literally *everything* in the hurricane have started to happen as detailed on the (biggest) BMW 2002 Facebook page.  Harry is going to update us when he is DONE with the donations, but I thought I'd just link to his latest post about it on here.  As I have said MANY times now, I could not be more proud of the 02 community and the honor it is to be Harry's friend. :wub::wub::D

I don't know how to link to a particular post on a public FB page, but his post is pinned to the top, for now. :)

Hello 2002 friends!

As promised, here is a report of the people and organizations you all helped through your generous donations to the relief fund Robert Shisler opened on my behalf on GoFundMe. As I initially expressed, my intention was to use the funds to help those affected by Hurricane Maria which were less fortunate than me.

Out of the money donated via the GoFundMe campaign, Robert transferred $3429.80 to the PR Classic Bimmer PayPal account. There were also several donations sent directly to the PayPal account totaling an additional $516.86 for a grand total of $3946.66. I rounded it out to $4000 and gave contributions of $500 each to:

* Juan Cumba, Flor Berrios and Jorge Ortiz - These three employees of fellow local 2002 enthusiast Hector Alejandro Santiago Rodriguez lost their homes and their belongings in the mountain town of Barranquitas. Hector's business, Cali Nurseries, was also severely affected, limiting his ability to help them as much as I am sure he would want to.

* Hogares Teresa Toda - A girl's orphanage in the town of Canovanas which I know well, since the local BMW CCA Chapter has raised funds and visited them any times over the years>

* World Central Kitchen - They provided hundreds of thousands of warm meals to people throughout the island. Some controversy has come to light in the last two days, but I did the donation a few weeks ago, and they did feed the people.

* La Casa de Todos - Home for battered women and children in the town of Juncos which does great work

* Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico - They should be instrumental in helping rebuild many of the homes lost during the hurricane

* El Faro De Los Animales - I am an animal lover, so I took the liberty of donating to this shelter located in the town I live, Humacao. They have an excellent reputation.

Robert will be donating any additional funds besides these $4000 to US charities helping Puerto Rico.

I can not thank you all enough for the way you responded to this. I must say that I am glad that almost 40 years ago I was hooked by a small, funny looking German sedan, which has made me the best friends a man could ever wish for. You all are awesome!

Blessings and Peace to all.

Thank you for the update/s, Harry!  I will figure out my end of the accounting stuff asap.  I *KNOW* the total came to $6000+ because I noted it on GFM as it came in, then sent it off (as you requested) to Direct Relief, One American Appeal, and possibly others!  I *HAVE* to get more stuff on ebay asap, among other things (as I mentioned on FB), otherwise I'd be digging through the various accounts as we speak. :)
