Thoughts on this e30 for DD?

I am need of a daily driver, just an A to B car for work for a distance of about 40 miles each way. I really don't want to and can't really in the winter time, drive the '02 (east coast salt thing). Anyway I saw this ad and wondered about any of your thoughts on value and what it would take to get it running?

Edit: just talked with the owner said it was just the fuel pump that is not working, that the engine did run fine when it was parked.

Thanks in advance! John

for starters, that is NOT an E30.  it is an E21.

that car is in way too nice condition to be a winter beater.  it should go to someone in the E21 community who wants to preserve it.

for a DD winter beater, i highly recommend a real E30.  86-91 325 or 318.  great, bulletproof, simple cars that are outstanding DD's.  I used one for commuting 50 miles each way to work for years.  still have it with 196k miles on it.  see my thread on the car in OT titled "saved another e30 today".

Thanks Marshall, I appreciate your shoot from the hip honesty. And please forgive my lack of knowledge of BMW makes and models, I am still learning about these exceptional cars. But I want to clarify, I do need a DD but rest assured I also have every intention of taking good care of the car as I do with all my cars, it's just that I would have to actually drive this car at times when I wouldn't take the '02 out. But point taken. I will consider other options.

e21's are just as rust prone as 2002's, so do not make good winter cars.

e30's got galvanized  bodies and hold up better,  and they are excellent cars to plow through snow in.  with an lsd and 4 snow tires ya can't stop'em!

I will second what Marshall said - -  an E30 with four snow tires and a LSD goes through snow quite well. I've had my 325 coupe since 2010. Five winter seasons -- no rust issues so far. A 2002 would need rockers and fenders after 4 to 5 winters in Ohio.
