SPEEDOMETER

If it matters to you, if your '76 is a 49-state version (which came with a 3.90 rear axle), the best choice in speedometers would read 1,39 or 1,393 on the backside of the head unit. If your '76 is a CA version (which came with a 3.64 rear axle), the best choice in speedometers would read 1,297 on the backside of the head unit. Neither is a guarantee of speedometer/odometer accuracy but those were the gearing ratios chosen by the factory, respectively, for those two factory rear axles.

Good luck with your project,

Steve

As Steve indicated above, it helps to know which speedo you need. If you pull your current speedo (assuming you have one), you can provide the numbers on the back, and if you liked the way it worked before, somebody on here will surely have what you're looking for. I have several speedos of various ratios, and can make sure the odometer is working as well.
