Make a friend with your local BMW dealer parts manager so you won't have to pay freight from the "other sources"... or if you have extra money to blow for the same parts order from World Upholstery in California-see below for p/n's:

Over several beers I was told by a supposed restoration guru that the seat bottom and seat back pad (a.k.a. horsehair pad) from a 1977 BMW 320i E21 is useable in the 2002's. Can anyone confirm or do I keep drinking?

Keep drinking...compare the 2002 part #'s listed in my previous post, to the 320 part #'s listed below.

Go to home depot or lowes garden section, check out the pottery beds made of coco something, looks very similar (same?) to one used in BMW cushions, and improvise, screw BMW, rip off asses. Also, check out seat cushions at CA VW web sites (e.g., GO WESTY) for similar products at less than 1/2 of BMW prices, and again improvise.
