Catman,

Yes, I'm an old guy pushing 70!!

How's 119.7 on a chassis dyno? Puts it somewhere between 140 and 150.

If the temp get up to mid 80's mid 90's I'd most likely use 135 or 130 mains.

I picked up an inline 6 offy manafold with 3 45DCOE's on it in a trade with my machine shop. They came from a guy who had trouble coming up with his bill. I got them at a good price. They are originals made in Italy. The kicker is they have never been ran - not one drop of gas has ever been in them.I sold the manifold for 250.00 - it fit a 56 GMC inline.I found out they came from an estate sale. The old guy that had these passed and they were found on a shelf in his garage. To be part of a project.Mounted to the manifold-never installed .I have pictures. I pulled the top off of one to see what I was in for and it shined in there like new.Bright red gasket shinney brass floats that have no floatline - no staining NO GAS PERIOD.

If I cant use them I need to sell them.

My new engine: 10.5:1- head milled - 284 Shrick - Headers - flow thru exh.

Crane points conversion-Can I rejet and choke etc. and use these now or not?

Pic to big to post- But can reshoot.

Catman,

You can use the 45's. But you'll have to replace the chokes. Better to sell the three as a set and get two 40'spkp

Thanks Bob- Right now I have a Korman hand massaged 32/36 with about 20 hours on it at best.It was jetted for the plane jane 02' however and can be rejetted .Having these almost new 45's and them being paid for is a tempting force with my rebuild. The Shrick cataloge says the 284 is a could carb combo for this set up but also the 40DCOE's. I figured the choke would be the first thing to need changing . I have never had the privledge of owning and tuning a set of side drafts. Its something Ive always wanted to do.So ! Looking at the How to tune your weber set up in one of the half a dozen books I have on the subject sence aquiring these things it shows the setup for the Ti tune ( with headers -custom exhaust and a mech advance dist. ) which I will have.I dont have the book here at work and I'm looking forward to what info you have.I think it said 36 choke in the casting. Not positive will look again. I pulled one jet assembley out months ago and inspected it for gas residue but didn't write anything down ) There is no evidence of any kind of liquid being in these carbs at any time. the things are still shiny in there like the parts were just pulled to put them together. They must be over 20 yrs to be Italian made .Tipo 45dcoe9 # - 4M - Brevettato - Made in Italy ( Bologna ).Would you be interested in them if we I cant use them.? Bob - I found a picture looking down the tube and you can read 38 right on the edge of the upper inside ridge. So I can assume they are 38's ?

Maybe I'm lucky - Ill find out when you tell me .

Thanks - Dave

Yep, those are 38mm chokes. Cool find on the 45DCOE9's, that's what the '69 I bought last year has. Just finished cleaning and rebuilding them. Will be running 40mm chokes with my new 2.0L 316 cam build. They were choked down to 32mm on the 1.6 liter engine the car came with. BTW, hang onto those triple carbs! You'll need them for your 6-cylinder conversion .... :)

So - Do you think that the 38's will be the right size when bob comes back with his tune for this set up?I think F9 was the size on the one piece when I pulled the cap off and unscrewed one set of jets to inspect.I wish I could post these pictures . they are to big. I get a chance I will reshoot them.It was quite a surprise when my machine shop called me to ask If I wanted them.Like pulling them out of the past with Shermans " wayback machine"

From The Rocky and bullwinkle show.
