I recently purchased a 73 2002 (May 2012) that came with a spare engine. The PO admitted that he did not know the status of the spare. He also stated that the car had recently developed an engine knock that he believes to be rod bearings. I dis-assembled the spare block and determined that #2 piston had shattered and scored the cylinder wall pretty bad. I basically need someone to diagnose the engine knock and evaluate the spare block to see which would be best to repair. I would like to rebuild the numbers matching block at some point but wouldnt be opposed to dropping in the spare. I just want to be able to drive this sucker soon.. I have a very, very good mechanic that works on my other cars but wanted someone that knows 2002's.

Mike is a really nice guy, his Dad had '02's back in the day. That's where I'd go.

The new car guys like Tom Hatum automotive, 1407 West 5th Avenue, Columbus, OH • 614-486-5277, I stopped in with the '02 a while back, he didn't seem very interested.
