1971 2002 Wont Start

My '71 2002 has been sitting and hasn't run for one year. I put a new battery in it this week put in a few gallons of new gas and have tried to start it. It turns over, but doesn't start.

Any thoughts on troubleshooting steps to find the cause?

Points, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, condenser, fuel pump. Checking those out would be a start. In fact, if these things are of unknown age, I would replace it all, minus fuel pump if it is working.

Any spluttering or 'trying' to start?

Start with the points. You are likely to have corrosion that has built up between the contacts. Take them out, run some folded over sand paper or Emory cloth through then to clean. Reinstall and gap to spec, try from there and report back
