1976 cinabraun (Pittsburgh Pa)

This weekend I was at a b-day party for the a friend of our kids and i struck up a conversation w/a guy (Henry) who was also there w/his kids. When we hit the conversation of cars (about 2 minutes into it) he tells me about his 76 cinabraun. He actually left and went and got it.

It's a really nice car. It looks to be repainted several years ago to a good standard. I noticed one run but the rest looked well done. Not a concourse, but not bad at all. He has a totally stock interior the seats are in really good shape and the only flaw was on the back of the rear seat.

It looks like some, not all of the emissions stuff was already taking off of it prior to him purchasing it. He's currently running stock steel w/rings and use to run bottle caps on it (which he still has), cibies in the front & 38/38. Other than that I think it's pretty much stock.

All in all the only 'rust' that i could see was the few spots that i took pics of. All together on the car, i don't think it would add up to the face of a 1/2 dollar w/room to spare.

The engine sounds good and ran when we ran it through it's pases it did well. I think it could use some new shocks to firm it up a bit, maybe some very small stuff here and there, but other than that i think it was a pretty sharp ride. In looking at the pics i never realized how good cinabraun looks in pictures.

Henry's not a car guy and doesn't know much about 02's other than the fact that he really enjoys the car, only puts a few hundred miles on it a year and needs to sell it (he's an electrician and his wife who's a teacher got laid off from the Tom Corbett cuts). He really wants to make sure it get's to someone who will be able to take care of it and enjoy it.

He'd like to get 7k for it and for that i think it's a pretty good deal. If I could right now, I'd honestly buy it myself. I really liked it!!

If you are really interested please lmk and I can forward the info on. The car is located in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Thanks,

Dave

That interior looks minty fresh. Actually the whole car does.

Am I missing it or do I not see rust pictures?

My 2002 was manufactured on September 15th, 1971 and delivered on October 22nd, 1971 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Granada, paint code 023. It was sold on New Years Eve December 31st 1971.

It honestly took some time for me to find it. It's kind of tough to see and it's in the rear wheel wells. each side is about the size of a dime. and it's not broken through, just bubbles.

the interior IS very minty fresh. very comfortable. I cant' remember 100% if the dash was crack free, but it was clean enough that i didnt' notice it when we went for a drive.

It's seriously very clean. I was honestly shocked to see a 76 that is in this good of shape. Sincerly if I could pick this up, I honestly would.
