Weber 32/36 manifold for 118 head with small round port?

Recommended Posts

There is an e21 316 or e12 518 intake that's supposed to work, they're rather hard to come by though.

Nick Vyse had an original NK 1bbl intake welded with a 2bbl carb mounting flange. He also worked out the linkage rather swimmingly. This is what I'd recommend as the NK linkage really needs the swivel post on the intake.

Here's Nick's build pages.

Thanks for the info Tom, btw here is a pic of the 118 head i'm considering could you tell if it would fit my early NK engine bore 3rd oversize 85mm mahle pistons? and the intake ports seem to have enlarged while the exhaust ports look round.

Yes, any 118 head will work as long as the combustion chambers haven't been opened for hemi pistons. The intake ports on 118 heads are still rectangular, just smaller than the later heads. The ones in this eBay Korman head do look to have been opened up. With the 292 cam and all the beautiful port work I'd recommend a set of 40mm sidedraft carburetors.

Yes... this head on eBay looks very nice.

Tom,

A set of sidedrafts would be a bit too much for me at the moment, what other application you think would be ok with downdrafts 32/36 or 38/38?

Do you mean the combustion chambers have been opened up for hemi pistons or the intake ports have been opened up?

Thanks

The intake and exhaust ports of this eBay head have been massaged by Kormam Autoworks, a very very well respect BMW shop.

The combustion chambers appear original.

Thanks Tom,

What you think if I go for the weber 38/38 will it be enough for the shrick 292 to breath, and is there any jetting prescriptions for this set up?

I hope i don't bother you with all these questions, your help is much appreciated.

The 38 will be fine, you'd just get the most out of it with a pair of 40's. Something to keep in mind for the future. ;)
