Center console width for period style radio

Can someone tell me the inner width of the center console (long console) just under the ash tray. I'm considering ordering a vintage looking yet modern performing radio from Woody's custom shop. He has one that is 8 inches wide but i'm not sure it would fit a stock looking application. I'm at work and can't measure my console so I was hoping someone could help me out.

My objective is to keep the center console looking as stock as possible so I don't want to modify it if I don't have to.

Thanks,

Bob

As you know the console tapers.

Just below the ash tray is 7 7/8 (7.875) in wide

At the bottom of the face plate is 7 3/4 (7.75) in wide

Vern's Frankfurt faceplate is 2 1/2 (2.5) in high

There was recently a thread regarding period radios, worth a search.
