have not heard of stroking an m42 with a diesel crank, but that is a known upgrade to the M20....use the crank from a 524td. is that what you are thinking of?

No, I think it is a turbo-diesel crank from a 4-cyl M41/43 (don't know the exact designation, odd numbers?), that is what Metric Mechanic is using in their upgrades, expensive though. Blunts says crank costs around 900 bucks alone+core. Assuming some machining+pars+labor will be needed to fit it correctly, it doesn't sound like a cost effective upgrade. MM sport M42s start from 6K.
