32/36 insulator gasket

After reading many posts using the search method trying to improve my hot start performance I realize there is no insulation gasket between the carb and the manifold. (The car starts hard the first time, then starts immediately if restart in less than 5 minutes, anytime after about 5-10 minutes hard to start again.) Can anyone recommend the best thickness and type to use?

i'm not certain that's the part he needs...i didn't take time to find it but i believe he wants the ceramic or whatever it's made of 1/4 (approx) insulator...it's purpose is to absorb or dispel heat from the carb

thanks, I noticed there are different thicknesses and wondered what the best would be. Noticed there are 7mm and 12mm thick...just wondered what the preference was as the best and why?

My phenolic insulator plate is 7mm and the hood clearance is very tight even with a thin profile air cleaner (Redline brand alloy with a K&N filter). I would think the 12mm would give you problems with the hood closing.--Jim

Thanks, that is good info...I'll check current clearance, add 1/4" to the top of my air filter and see if there is any issues.

and close the hood. Then you can measure your clearance.

The one from Pierce Manifold, at 5.3mm, shown on Baikal.2002 link above is all you need to give you sufficient heat insulation from the intake manifold.

Thanks Bob, I ordered it yesterday...hoping this fixes my issue as it has been very frustrating
