BMW 02Fest Northeast 2010 at Lime Rock Park 9-5-2010

Recommended Posts

Hello FAQ,

We at SCR will be getting all of our chicks, ducks and badgers in row for the upcoming 02Fest Northeast 2010.

It is scheduled for September 5th (Labor Day weekend) as part of the larger Rolex Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT. This has been the home of 02Fest for the last two years, and the whole weekend is is full of vintage racing and the "Sunday in the Park" concourse. The format for "Sunday in the Park" was changed last year to placing all show cars on the track with concourse and featured cars on the main straight. Too cool.

Please mark your calendars and stay tuned for details.

Hello FAQ,

We are just under two months away from 02Fest East 2010. The most important details of all to keep in mind would be:

1- Plan on buying tickets in advance to save money and avoid the inflated ticket prices at the gate. Link attached below for purchasing one the many ticket options for the Vintage Festival:

http://tickets.limerock.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=4

2- Due to the format of the show being on the track itself, participants should be at the track and in place by 9am or soon after.

3- When purchasing tickets, indicate that you are with the "BMW 2002" group.

4- Raffle prizes and event shirts (people love t-shirts)

The admission for the Sunday event is the same for spectators and people showing their cars. Show cars will be filed onto the track by the Lime Rock track workers.

I have not purchased tickets for this year's event through the LRP website, so I am unsure of there being an opportunity to indicate the group/club that you will parking with.

Please pass on any more questions or concerns as we get get closer to the event,

Nate

Hello FAQ,

This is the most recent correspondence with Fred Jackson who is the primary event coordinator for the Rolex Vintage Weekend:

Two things - suggest you order advance tix, for the group if possible. If not, please

make sure to tell members to identify the club affiliation (BMW 2002) when they do order. Anyone at LRP can take an order.

Tel# 860 435 5000 or online www.limerock.com. (Prices same as 2009) For our Sunday show, members should be at the track

by 9am. As the show opens at 10am, this gives us time to get all cars to their assigned positions. We will have additional people

ontrack for supervision and directions. There will also be signs at your positions.

Let me know if you have any questions or other concerns. Thanks. Fred.

Fred is great to work with and is very accommodating to the guests of the Vintage Festival.

Awesome news! I was tempted to head out there for the historics anyways, and camp for the weekend. Unfortunately I am 02less in the US (My 02 is back in australia, with my dad's 2) which means I will be rolling up in a *shudder* jeep

I think I've only seen one 02 in person since I've been here (I missed the vintage at saratoga thing last week) So will be great to see a few!

Good Morning FAQ,

We are one month away from the event. I am on the phone/email hustling some last minute sponsors and raffle prizes. We will be making event plaques and tees again this year. If you drive a 2002 or any other cool vintage BMW, you will be handed a plaque at the show.

Bring-a-trailer (http://bringatrailer.com/) is our newest sponsor for 2010, so you can expect to see some goodies from one of our favorite websites.

Please keep an eye on the Lime Rock website for event updates:

http://www.limerock.com/

I receive all sorts of news from them as they add more and more to their upcoming events. The Vintage Festival is a big deal, and it seems they are pulling out all the stops.

Have a great day,

Nate Williams

Hey Mike,

If you are in need of seeing some 02's, you should swing by the shop prior to going out to the show. We usually have at least 30+ on the premises, and we took up a bit of space on the Lime Rock track at last year's event. I am unsure of anyone here being able to drive an 02 other than customer cars that may be available, so don't feel too bad about driving a jeep. The more the merrier,

Good Morning FAQ,

As we get closer to the event, I want to make sure everyone remembers that 2002's are awesome. Labor Day weekend is right around the corner, so get the brakes bleed, muffler wired up and steering wheel tightened.

Advance tickets will cost less money, and a AAA membership will get you a discount.

There will another great batch of raffle prizes from our favorite vendors.

SEPTEMBER 5TH-BE THERE,

Good Morning FAQ,

We should be receiving the event dash plaques by tomorrow. I will be sure to post pics. All participants driving an 02 will be handed one upon arrival.

The Fall weather is beginning to kick in here in CT, and all it does is remind me of the cool morning drives out to Lime Rock.

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
