"Minor Rust"
There was some rust I knew about before purchasing the car, driver floor and a little around the shock towers. I discovered more than expected during the disassembly. Had I known what I was getting myself in to, I think I would have just driven the car this summer and put it for sale. Unfortunately now that I'm in to it, I'm in for the long haul.
Here are photos of the worst parts which require welding.
I hope they make you feel better about your 2002, because i feel pretty shitty.
Driver floor pan, the pedal knobs were holding on by a thread.
Passenger floor pan, there was a giant (unpainted) metal patch screwed and glued in
+rusted through along transmission tunnel (remove the metal patch)
Passenger Gutter rail, the driver side is similar to this but not as bad.
Rear-sub frame, the spring perch has rusted.
Engine bay, behind nose
Shock towers, I knew they had been patched by previous, previous owner. Passenger side
Shock tower, Driver side, there was some black paint over this one.
Front fenders
I was grinding behind the front fenders to put a fresh coat of por15 and foudn out that what I thoguht was metal was actually bondo... fn' awesome.
Pedal box, not that bad
things that were kinda visible:
Rocker panels:
So what do you guys think? comments, advice? I know I got in way over my head.. that's not debatable.
