  1. @TobyB and @Mike SelfThank you for the wise words
  2. Question on worn piston rings - Is this a terminal condition? Add oil and hope it doesn't get worse or start saving for a full engine rebuild? Rafael
  3. Hello! There are a variety of posts related to smoke, I am experiencing the good old "it smokes when it warms up" version of it. The reality is, that I want to enjoy the car and not worry about any potential catastrophic failure. I am not looking at a concours-level car nor an engine that is flawless. To that end, is this smoke related to any potential issues that may leave me on the side of the road? The color is "grey-ish" and it does puff when it accelerates, am I running too rich? Is it a combination of rich and piston rings? See a photo of my Scheiße kacken in all its glory surrounded by smoke!
  4. Hello, For sale are some spare parts that came with my 2002 I picked up about a year ago. After going through several stages of the project I wanted to see if someone needed them for their own 2002. Weber Air Filter - Rough outside condition but like new inside, comes with a good filter, nothing some sandpaper and spraypaint won't fix - $30 + Shipping - SOLD Front Calipers - Great candidate for complete teardown, $50 for both + Shipping Headlight Buckets - Great candidate for some fresh paint! One has some loose tabs on the perimeter of the frame but still hanging on $50 + Shipping for both - SOLD Feel free to make offers!
  5. Mike, That is a negatory, heater controls are very dead, so is the fan. I suspect wiring as my radio is completely removed as well as my center console. I was planning on yanking the dash this winter to tackle bypassing the heater core but that is in my to do list Now that the car is able to make short trips it's been fun to get to know the car, especially after getting rid of my E30 to fund the project, so I am hopeful it will continue to be able to make small trips before the summer comes to an end!
  6. Hi Mike, Recently installed as of winter time, my heater is currently non functioning which made the bleeding process very difficult. I will try to get the front of the car elevated to see if I can burp it more effectively. Temps are good which is the important bit but hearing new noises is always an experience
  7. First HOT day in Illinois in a while and after getting a new exhaust it allowed me to actually listen to some novel sounds. Not sure what to make of these that are coming predominantly from the front of the engine, no weeping from water pump. Radiator is a new Blunt Tech high efficiency model. 8. I am A-OK with topping off oil once in a while, especially while I save for a full engine refresh
  9. @Leucadian tough to measure oil consumption at the moment, my oil pan gasket is leaking when the oil gets up to temperature so I have had to add a bit of oil over the last 6 months. I may try to run some Marvel Mystery Oil to see if things improve, if not then a teardown is in order!
  10. John, Hard to describe the color but I believe it leans a bit more to blue. Coolant level is stable and temperatures are running great. Engine seems to have been recently serviced for a head gasket but the history is murky. It was certainly taken apart!
  11. As the title says, I observed a puff of smoke coming out of the exhaust after very hard acceleration, this does not occur every time and is intermittent, any thoughts? Valve Guides?
  12. Not sure if this helps but I am also running a 32/26 and also have the same issue even when parked on a slight incline on my driveway. I can't say for sure if its just "The way it is" but it may make you feel better that I also experience this!
  13. I honestly agree! It must be from some sort of catalogue but was unsure if anyway had experience with this header design.
  14. Description: Warneford intake manifold for sidedrafts, Used. Shipping is not included.
  15. Picked this up locally, wondering if anyone knows what it may be? Early IE header? No markings at all Bonus pup picture.
  16. @Gordon not sure why it was painted in the first place! at that it was a very poor paint job. @James Laray everything under the car is still Granatrot, I am slowly fixing rust in the trunk and repainting it black. The blue paint job is flaking exposing poorly sanded Granatrot throughout the car.
  17. I am sorry! It was indeed Granatrot as @Conserv mentioned. I did indeed e-mail BMW Classic and just posted the wrong color, my mistake. With comparisons against Fjord it looks too...blue, not sure how to describe it. Fjord below in comparison.
  18. The car was originally Granada from the factory and was resprayed (poorly) this light blue, I doubt it is an original BMW color and I am pretty certain it is not an original 2002 color but any ideas would be great so I can start looking for color matching!
  19. As title says, looking potentially for a full exhaust for a late model 2002! Rafael
  20. I dont know! I am trying to figure it out in my head, I THINK they are interchangeable. Anyone else know?
  21. I also only need one, the right side if you want to split these?
  22. @FunElan I will follow that! @adawil2002 honestly anywhere back East would be perfect, although not the main reason for me moving back there Illinois is just not curing my itch. Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Upstate NY, Mass, are all great candidates
