  1. The one shown here looks good to me! 200 km/h with cross hairs. I have read in other posts what the W number means. It deals with rear diff ratio and how it affects the speedo. I won’t worry about this. I’ll use a GPS or an app on my phone to calibrate it. If it’s off, I’ll just remember to adjust my speed. Could we take this via e-mail? gordsays@gmail.com I live in Canada, so there shouldn’t be any postal problems and COVID Thanks
  2. The speedometer in my car has “W=1.30”. But that’s not the original gauge. I have a broken one that was in the car when new. It has the cross hairs and has “W=1.28”. Both have a maximum of 120 mph (200 km/h) I also have a Getrag 245 5 speed transmission, if that matters Thanks
  3. I just saw your other posting with the single gauge. I’ll answer you on that one
  4. Hi. I have a 1974 2002 with mph speedo. I live in Canada and would like a speedo in km/h. I have removed the instrument cluster from my car and it looks like yours, except I have a tachometer instead of a clock. I could buy this and exchange the clock for my tach. It would be a shame to remove a nice clock. Do you have any speedometers in km/h, only the speedo gauge? thanks Gord
  5. User "MichaelBend" sent me this. I haven't built it yet. I know someone who has part of an old console. I guess I will use this to make the rest. This is the only drawing I have found so far. Like you, someone before me removed the console from my car.
  6. @michaelbend could you please send me this AutoCAD or PDF file ? I have a 1974 model, so it would have a long console, correct? thanks Gord Winter gordsays@gmail.com
  7. Thanks for the help, especially the wiring diagram. To fix my problem, I did the following: On the brake fluid reservoir, there are 3 wires going to 2 connectors. Identify the single wire and trace it through the firewall. On the back of the instrument panel, there is a round connector with 12 pins. The wire from the reservoir goes to pin #5. I cut this wire and soldered in a new wire running to the parking brake switch. I cut the wire in a place where I could solder easily. Now, either the parking brake or a low brake fluid situation will trigger the “BRAKE” light to illuminate. I hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.
  8. Yes, there isn’t much room to work there. I found a 3/4” stubby wrench worked to remove the switch.
  9. My new reverse switch arrived today. LS244, just like the old switch. But the new switch “closes” with very little travel on the plunger. The plunger on the old switch moved 3/4 of the way before “closing” internally. The short story - the new switched worked ! No wiring changes were needed.
  10. The problem with my car is the wire that should be connected at the parking brake is missing. I think the switch on the parking brake is working fine. I need to run a new wire from the parking brake to somewhere. But to where? thanks for all the help on this forum
  11. @Sons of Marty - yes, my car is a 1974 model. It is supposed to trigger the red "brake" warning light on the dash. Where I live, we have safety inspections before I can licence the car. I was told that as of 1971, cars in North America are to have this warning system.
  12. Does anyone know where the wire from the parking brake attaches to the rest of the system? My brake warning light works from the fluid reservoir but not from the parking brake.
  13. I guess I could try the lathe trick to my switch. Without a lathe, I would hacksaw and file it. Yeah it might be ugly but if I ruin it, a new one is $14 from Rock Auto. Not an expensive mistake.
  14. One thing I did find when I was testing the switch outside the car, the plunger had to be pushed in more than 1/2 way before the switch "closed". I don't know if a new switch would be better - making electrical contact sooner when the plunger is pushed in.
  15. I found another entry where someone use a metal lathe to remove some material so the switch went deeper into the transmission. I don't have a lathe, so this isn't possible. Hats off to the person who could do this.

  17. Yes, I already extended the wires to the new switch position (forward / top) of the 5 speed trans. I think what happened - when the 5 speed trans was installed, they just transferred the old switch to the new trans. This is the wrong switch for the 5 speed transmission.
  18. Does anyone know the proper part number for a reverse light switch on a Getrag 245 transmission (5 speed). The previous owner of my car converted it from a 4 speed transmission to a 5 speed. I found the wires under the car where they would hook up to the 4 speed's reverse light switch. If I touch the wires together, the reverse lights come on (so that part works). The 5 speed transmission has a reverse light switch installed but it isn't long enough. If I remove the switch and test it with a multimeter, it works fine. If I order a switch for a 4 speed (P/N LS244), I doubt it will work. I've searched and can't find a part number for a 5 speed. Any ideas out there? Thanks Gord
  19. Thanks Steve. I’ll have to buy a basic steel wheel with a 165mm tire for a spare. My current wheels? BBS ones common on 2002’s
  20. Right now, my car doesn’t have a spare tire. I took off one of the 4 tires and put it in the trunk where the spare would sit. The 175/70R13 sits a little high, and the trunk covers (if that’s what they are called) don’t sit flush. Any suggestions? How about an even narrower tire (165 or 155) or even an ugly temp spare. I wonder if in the past, someone has fixed the usual rust problem and welded in a new piece too high. That’s just a guess.
  21. Thanks for the info. I was measuring the stud spacing on my wheels and was also confused. Adjacent studs measure 70 mm. I don't have a spare and need to buy a wheel and tire.
  22. Thanks for the info, and picture. I have to remove my lock on my car. The key is very worn and I want to have a new key made
