    And so it begins!
    Getting some items ready for Derby and Tesoro's debut for their first time at Brisbane Swap and Show in May....
    For those period correctos... the rear taillight lenses for US 1600's were red... however, EURO 1600's were amber centers. Derby originally came with original amber center lenses but they looked a bit faded so I swapped them out to the red centers... I like the red centers... but I'll be switching the taillight lenses back to the amber centers. Keeping Derby PC!

    Here is a short video of the exterior of Derby and some pics after I cleaned him up a little...
    I've noticed in pictures that the color is different from angles and lighting....
    I absolutely am in LOVE with this car... it's so pure, unadulterated, simplistic beauty that makes it so attractive. Such a different caliber from a car like Tesoro... but both very special to me.

    Here's a quick glimpse! ? 
    Custom Porsche Singer style seats designed by me with the alcantara suede insert and real leather bolsters... Door panels have a smitten strip of alcantara suede on the top with all new hardware. 
    (Don't dock me points on the no seatbelts in the rears.. I have to figure that part out later!) 
    Custom leather armrest over the ebrake handle.
    Wait til you see my custom center console! ?

    I'm such a big advocate for safety components on our vehicles but also want to look cool doing so! ?
    I highly recommend these LED rear taillight set up kit! They are engineered LED circuit boards designed specifically for our 2002s to fit in perfectly for the lenses whether you're a roundie or square!
    I've been reading about too many rear end accident stories - that if our cars can be a little brighter... the better to be noticed!
    It doesn't make Tesoro immune .... but I think all 02s should have these! Makes it safer out there for us to drive our beautiful babies!
    As Bill Arnold installed these for me... he said they were 'insanely bright!' ?

    Beautiful day at Sonoma Raceway for their C&C!
    What a fun way to spend a Sunday! ??
    (Race fuel anyone?)
    Got to do 4 laps at Sonoma today with my 02 friend Bryan Bates in his Malaga tii and Dieter Stenger in his 912! 
    Tesoro has now got his tires all over at Laguna and Sonoma..... 
    I love 'schooling' the guys around Tesoro, my bat ears instantly go up! ?LOL!

    Socal Vintage was such a HOT event. Literally! In a black car, with black interior and in 98 degree weather... it was roasting!
     
    These events are always so fun to not just see the cars, but to put names to faces, and enjoy the camaraderie of within this 2002 community. Thanks to all who expressed to me how much you enjoyed following Tesoro's restoration story. Its delightful to hear such warm and positive comments and to also learn of other people's passion for their 2002s. 
     
    After a dusty day at Socal Vintage, I drove 7 hours back home in Tesoro. What an exhausting day.... but glad to have made the drive knowing that Tesoro has a strong well built engine and everything mechanically checks out beautifully... Ran into tons of bugs though!

    Congrats to award winners Tong Phan with his gorgeous fjord 02 and AT Miller with his midnight blue flared beast 02! And to 2002garagewerks who had a part in building these machines...! I don't mind that Tesoro didn't win anything as there were plenty of cool 02s at the event! I think there were easily over 100 02s there... 
     
    I received a present from a fellow FAQer!! Love this community! Thank you OriginalOwner! Cheers!

    What better way to do it by driving it down to 2002garagewerks for the final adjustment service! 
    Made it here safe and sound with no issues! Tesoro is so strong and it was just cruising all the way on Hwy 5 at 112kmp. (I just like typing that cause it looks like we were racing.. 
    I left at 4:30AM with water and redbull. Saw the sunrise and after 2 conservative stops, made it to LA in 7 hrs. I took my time as it was nerve wracking to me to get Tesoro to 2002garagewerks safely especially through LA Traffic! 
    The recaro seat felt so comfy! ?
    See you all at Socal Vintage in October!

    Tesoro's on the parade lap today!! Amazing! What a dream come true! ? I'm in tears !?
     
    One word to describe this weekend..... Euphoric!!!
    I'm floating on an 02 cloud right now! I met so many cool people and I'm truly thankful for the friendships that we have in this small 02 community!
    I would have liked to have visited Pebble Beach ... but if I did.. I would of missed out on this opportunity to drive in the parade lap! What a great way to break in the engine! 
    Pebble will have to wait til next year! I love the pic of Tesoro in pole position with other friends lining up for the tribute lap! The other pic looks like he's actually "smiling!" 
    Everyone should have at least one dream come true.... This whole weekend was mine... ?
    Thanks to all for the follow of Tesoro's journey and cheers to many more 02 outings and events! Drive your dream!
     
    PS: Did you notice my shirt? I think I did Michel proud! For those who don't know.. he was my mentor back in 1996! Yes... I have been in this community for "that" long! LOL!
