70mph at just under 3000rpm..........

I can tell you with my "75", without me in the car, it's 2482 pounds. But that's with a 20-gallon fuel cell with 14-gallons of fuel a the S14, Zender front spoiler and early chrome bumper in the rear (no front bumper)

If anyone is interested in a drive tomorrow, meet in Hollister, and drive Hwy 25 South towards King City. AWESOME road, air quality may be a bit better.....

Simeon. Yes/no. You are correct in that you want the anti-reversion effect in place. However, it is often still benificial to open the exhaust ports up a bit. I’ve found on the general 1 5/8 primary size you’ll find on most street m10 headers you can port to the gasket diameter and still have a nice step. A little of the Goldilocks effect if you will.
for some real world numbers I have found to be generally true in the real world. (Not including race-spec higher-than 91 octane numbers)
Typical stock carb M10: 90-100 whp
Typical stock mech. Inj. M10: 105-115whp
fresh top/bottom street hotrod spec. M10: 125-140whp
typical m42: 125-145whp
tired/typical m20b25: 140-155whp
fresh m20 (all stock spece30): 162whp
fresh m20 w/ maf+272: 175-180ish
fresh m20 “ultimate street spec”: 235-250whp
There’s more to add, but I’m texting this, and it’s not fun.
I'm a little over 209hp to the rear wheels with my S14 build, with a bit 18,000-miles since Dec 12th, 2017........

I have built 3 race engines using S14 Evo 87mm stroke crank,M10 blocks at 92mm bore, 2313cc, 146mm rods, Single cam M10 heads, Schrick 336 cam, 47mm intake valve, 39mm exhaust valve, 13:1 compression ratio, dry sump oil system, . 50DCO carburetors with 42mm chokes.
Peak HP 249.2 @7900 rpm Peak Torque 195 lb/ft @ 5600 rpm
Average HP 4500-8000 rpm 219.3 HP Average Torque 4500-8000 rpm 184.4 lb/ft
148.5HP @ 4500 rpm 173.3 lb/ft @ 4500 rpm
I am in the process of converting one of these engines to EFI with 45mm ITBs. I'll post the dyno sheets when I actually get it on the dyno (don't hold your breath it is going to be a while, this is my project and the customer engines come first)
For comparison a equally prepared 2 liter with 146mm rods
Peak HP 225@ 8100 rpm Peak Torque 171.9 lb/ft @ 5900 rpm
Average 199.2 HP 4500-8300 rpm Average 163.5 lb/ft 4500-8200 rpm
I have not used a S14 block for one of these engines yet, I sonic check the cylinder wall thickness and have found a few M10 blocks that I decided NOT to bore over 91mm for race use. I have not felt comfortable going over 92mm on any of the M10 blocks. One problem with going over 94mm with the S14 block is the space between the cylinders gets so thin it is hard to keep head gaskets alive between the cylinders.
Are those "hp" numbers to the rear wheels or crank?

I can tell you 8-1/2" wide, et25 will fit on the rear for sure with rolled lips. 7" wide in the front with rolled lips, and you'll still get some rub on the fender on compression.
I can't see 9" wide rims fitting without cutting.....

Go down to your local Mom & Pop muffler shop, and have them do the job. It will cost between $250-$300, an it will fit perfect with a guarantee.
Use 2-1/4" tubing with one muffler in the back. The muffler shop will be able to recommend something that will be quiet and still sound good.....

I like front spoilers, I have a "Zender" now on my "75", no bumper.
Back in 1985, I had a spoiler on my "73", I can't remember the Mfg. It was fiberglass, and came with a rubber lower lip. It hung down to low, ripped it off a couple of times, gave up on it.
I do like the look of the "Zender", that’s the one that someone should be replicating.
I got lucky and found a used one back in 2014, it ain’t perfect, but it looks good from 40-feet. It’s fiberglass, so it’s somewhat repairable. I did some reinforcing on the back side with some layers of glass a resin when I first got it.....

I think these are DMV regulations, not statutes (from what I understand), so the answer is no politicians.
Then who's responsible for stopping the raising of smog exempt from 1975 to 1981 a few years back? It sure was not the DMV,

Cars that are 1975 an older do not require smog here in California, I do not see an issue regarding getting it registered through DMV....

The "Monterey Bay Area BMW 2002" group is trying to put together a drive South on Hwy 1,
Let me know if that's something y'all may want to do. Trying to decide on Saturday July 28th, or Sunday the 29th. Thoughts?

5 Speed OD with 3.64 Diff ?
in BMW 2002 and other '02

I'm at sea level, running the S14 also. For the driving I do, the 3.64's made much more sense, less stress on everything running the taller gear. I could see tearing up more stuff running a 3.91 with the amount of hp's being produced from the S14. Less ware and tear................
