previously my oil filter blew an O ring.

turned out some enthusiastic cold driving (not me) and heavy oil caused it to blow.
anyway.
i took the alternator apart to clean it (because it wasn't working, and it was SOAKED in oil) and discovered the three diode wires were exposed.
should i look for some insulation to cover those wires? or just replace the wires? they took look a bit stuffed with all that green corrosion.
finally what grade of wires should i be using. Its a stock 40A alternator.
