  1. Sent email looking for the drivers floorboard section?
  2. Not to Hijack, but what 2002 club was that and are they still around?
  3. I also had never rebuilt a weber carb before. Purchased a rebuild kit, manuals, gallon of parts cleaner and went to town. It was waaay easier than I thought it was going to be. P.S. if you do purchase a lot of parts cleaner, you could do as i did and let the carb soak for a day or so, don't know how dirty yours is but that is how dirty mine was. Read those manuals. The Haynes book does the dismantle step by step, worth its weight. Once I finished I put it back on the car, did some minor tuning and the engine fired up. Success!
  4. Is it just me or does the front bumper look odd. It appears as if the car has been in a collision and the front of the bumper is angled downward?
  5. Ok. Still having issues with getting the engine to crank. Checked the timing, checked to make sure there is a spark, replaced the spark plugs (they were fouled with carbon, number 3 and 4 were wet with gas), still no crank but turns over fine. So, I gave up and took off the Carburetor (32/36 dgav) to look and see if it was put back together (if something is wrong in assembly) correctly. I have been reading the braden book but it doesn't mention this issue, and I searched the FAQ to no avail. Here is my question: I noticed that when I took the carburetor off, inside the intake manifold, directly under the carb, there is a depressed area directly under where the carb bolts up on the inside of the intake manifold (when you stare directly down the peanut or separate intake holes) and there was a "puddle" of gas in that "depressed" area. Is that normal? (If it sounds too confusing I can post pics tonight) Thoughts or facts are greatly appreciated since I've never seen this occur in another vehicle. SIDE NOTE: after I double check everything I am taking the carb to a mechanic who allegedly "knows how to work on Webers," he is going to check and make sure that I put that thing back together correctly.
  6. Thanks so much for the ideas. I still can't get the engine to run. It doesn't even cough or sputter (which is bizzarre). Since it was running before (sort of) before I cleaned the carb, I must have done something incorrectly when I put the thing back together. I noticed yesterday a strong smell of gas when I was trying to get the thing working. I removed the plugs and they were wet (with gas). My guess is that something is stuck open or my intake is flooded. When I removed the carb there was an excessive amount of gas in teh intake (like a puddle). WHen I put it back on I don't remember seeing it. Is there a chance that this carb is "worn out" (can that happen) from either use or abuse? I am excited though, my volumes should be here no later than tomorrow : )
  7. Sounds good BTW . . . youre left brake light looked like it was out in the pic.
  8. I have ordered three weber manuals (haynes, passini and braden) because of the problem encountered. Before I cleaned the carburetor (32/36 DGAV with Electronic choke conversion), the engine at least ran. The carb started leaking onto the manifold and since it was very dirty (the entire carb was black from deposits), I decided that at least a cleaning was in order to determine if the leak was repairable. Well it does not leak any more (at least not so far) but now the vehicle will not run. Turns over just fine, but won't actually fire up and run. I have checked the points, plug wires, static timing, etc but they appear correct. Tonight I am going to replace the vacuum lines to the distributor and the brake assist (since they are fairly old). So, I am thinking that I somehow screwed up on the "reassembly" of the carb. My question is do these books (haynes, passini and braden) tell you the starting point for the carb settings (proper number of turns on mixture screws, air corrector jets, main jets, et. al.) or am I barking up the wrong tree? Sorry, I am new to these types of carbs (although I have worked with solex on my bug and edelbrock on my truck) so I completely do not know what is adjustable. Is there something else I can try (for checking the "tuning settings" on the carb) until these volumes arrive? As always, thoughts and ideas are appreciated. Thanks Mike
  9. I'm not familiar with that charge. What is brokerage for? Didn't you pay ups $27 for shipping? Is that a "Canada/BC" charge?
  10. Their phone is 404-292-8770 http://www.mycoimportedparts.com/ The "Weber" guy's name is Rick. He seems to know alot about German Cars in General. He also helped me with my 1967 VW Bug. Over the phone he went into detail about what to watch out for when I started rebuilding my 32/36 DGAV Carb.
  11. Thanks for the idea but I gave them a call . . . no dice. However, if anyone looks at this post, I answered my own question. Myco Imports in Decatur carries BMW parts as well as rebuild kits for Weber, dellorto and other carbs. (I thought they catered mostly to just old VW's but they cater to old German Cars in general).
  12. Does anyone know a good parts store in GA. More specifically I need to get a Weber rebuild kit for my 2002 but was looking for a local store. Anyone local know where I might could obtain? If not which online stores are recommended for their in stock and shipping capabilities? (by shipping capabilities, I mean if its not in stock you don't get charged, and if it is in stock it does not take 2 weeks to get)
  13. For the Megasquirt, what all do I need to get from the 318 to hook it up? Is there a list in the FAQ? Thanks Mike
  14. I don't have a 3 series but there are a ton at the local pull a part. I have to go there this weekend to get parts for my 74 f100 I'm restoring so I thought I might look over the 3 series cars for parts that I might need. Thanks for the info on the pedal box . . . that's a bummer that that part is specific to our model. On the tranny, if I get a 5 speed out of the 3 series, what about the other parts of the drive train like the drive shaft?? Thanks! Mike
  15. OK did a search and did not come up with anything (but my search skills are a little on the wanting side). Looking to see what parts will transfer from a 3 series (or other models) into a 2002. I have a 76 2002 (made in 75). reworking the pedal box and its holy, (and not the good kind LOL) More specifically, my pedal box is pretty much holy all the way around. I could fabricate a new one but would almost rather get a replacement. Does the 3 series use a pedal box and if so will it go into a 2002? Any other items that could be thought of that will transfer without too much trouble please let me know about those as well. Thanks Mike
  16. I've seen some mention of places to purchase parts mentioned. Which place carries the best replacement floor pans and or sheet metal, or which one does the community use the most and find most reliable? Thanks, Mike.
  17. Wacking would not get it loose. I took it apart from the brake reservoir to get it out and havn't even gotten off of the assembly since removal, it is on there REALLY good. When I put this assembly back together what type of grease is best to lube everything up before butting the pedal assembly back together. Thanks
  18. Checked the VIN on the door put the tard that owned the car previously painted over it when he had the car repainted . . . talk about pain in the a**
  19. So I registered my VIN on the 2002 registry.com (to actually see if they had a previous owner registered for my vehicle). The system said that I have a 1975 BMW 2002 but all my paperwork says its 1976. WTF? Has anyoneelse had a problem like this on that site, or heard of one like this?
