I purchased the cable ties from the dealer a number of years ago.
I have not looked at Real OEM, so do not know if they are NLA now.
Eastwood Co makes a fabric tape similar to the OEM tape wrap that works well.

FYI - New OEM quarter panels do not have the reinforcing doubling sections over the wheel well.
My quarter panels were replaced with new OEM panels last year by our local BMW dealers body shop to fix buckling of the panels above the wheel wells from a minor rear end collision in 2008.
The outside panels of both quarters was fixed, but the inner panels were still buckled. Under vibration from driving, the outer panels buckled again just like the inner panel. The trunk lid and rear panel were not affected.
Everything fixed now like new. The good news is the the rocker panels were in great condition.

Correct on the Hunter machine. I am spoiled. I work with folks that know how to use it.
Ideally you should not be driving on tires over 8-10 years old.
If driving in anger, 8 years is about it.

Get someone to balance your tire with a Hunter Road Force balancing machine.
Rotating the tire on the wheel a half turn may help if the tire is a lot out of balance.
Also grab the tire a 9 & 3 and try to move the wheel forward and back. If it moves, check tie rod ends.
Checking the same way at 12 & 6 is wheel bearings.
Good luck.

Welcome back Paul.
Your assistance and expertise at Maximillian helped me immensely putting my ‘76 together.
I do wish you could bring back the days of belt line trim for $160 instead of $160 a piece, but that ship has sailed.

Recommend - Put a block of wood on top of your jack below the flat passenger side of the oil pan and GENTLY raise the engine back into position until the holes line up
Do not get too aggressive with the jack or you will bend something important.

I have no lift access. Will try to crawl under the car to get a photo tomorrow.
i can’t get a good photo of the u joint.
If you really need it for a project let me know and I will put the car on jack stands for some photos.

Our local drive shaft folks will not touch a sealed BMW driveshaft.
I have used Driveline Specialists of Portland (OR) twice.
Once to have u-joints replaced and balanced.
The second, for another car, to have a driveshaft shortened for a 5-speed XMSN and a 6 bolt guiro. They provided the driveshaft end piece for the 6 bolt guibo. I did not have to search for one.
In both cases they had stock on hand and and sent me a completely rebuilt driveshaft in a shipping tube and I returned my used driveshaft to them for credit. My new driveshafts have greasable u-joints,a new center bearing, and are guaranteed for, I believe 100,000 miles IF you service them at recommended intervals.
I am very pleased with Portland Driveline!Given that, I just noticed that the originator of the post and second poster are in Pakistan and Australia respectfully, which throw my recommendations out the window.
I would recommend finding a good marine driveline shop near a sea port. They could rebuild your sriveshaft for you.

Speedometer Cable.
It could be one piece or two.
Mine is zip tied to a fuel line.
Depending on year, (‘75 & CA ‘76) with a two piece cable, it may go to a box under the brake booster support that tracks your EGR and thermo reactor. There are reset buttons on the box to turn the warning lights off in the dash pod.

Has anyone installed the Lynx / DCOE since Oct 2018.
What are your impressions?
If you installed an AFM, where did you install the oxygen sensor.
With my 5 speed XMSN, there is not much room down there.

Are you working on the “just work on it when you have time”plan?
That is usually cheapest, but it does take FOREVER!

Good point on the tire diameter and LSD.
You might try a temporary spare from an NB Miata (03-05) as they also use the 4x100 bolt pattern.
This would allow a flat floor.
I have been meaning to try it, but have not gotten around to it. I should have done a test fit Before I sold my MS Miata.
I currently have E-30 14” Basketweave wheels over my Ireland brakes and they fit fine. The spare is a bit wide and will not allow a flat trunk floor.

I have a ICE Auto Air kit installed and I like it a lot.
it is not hot right now, you can’t charge it up until things warm up anyway.
Put a kit on order and install it in the spring.

Really nice!
Does the turn and bank indicator work?

Nice car!
I would fix the suspension before I put sticky tires on.
This is how someone rolled an “02 at an autocross in Huntsville years ago.
Sticky tires and bad suspension.
I think the guys could have used a few more cones to lay out the course.
They must have used every cone they had.

Pull your seatbelt as tight as you can across your lap, unlatch the belt, twist it a half turn and reinsert in the latch.
It will help you stay in the seat.

FYI the last car that rolled over locally at an autocross over 15 years ago was a 2002 With sticky tires and stock suspension.
For a stock car, recommend skinny tires that will slide.

Make sure that you have a strut bar or your radiator support will start buckling or both sides of the radiator where the support is welded to the front fenders. I was running a stock class with stock 13” wheels on my ‘76 and ended up with that issue. My cure was to buy a Miata.
I have a ‘75 02 now I can run in a SM class with IE strut bar, Miller & Norburn Springs and 19mm sway bars with Bilstein Sports. I only autocross the ‘02 occasionally now just play.
With FSP you are ok on non stock size wheels.
Recommend BFG Rival S or Bridgestone RE 71’s 200 treadwear tires if you can get them work driving in warm weather. Some 200 treadwear tires may crack in below freezing temperatures.
Have fun

My ‘75 has a 2.3L MM Rally engine, 5 speed XMSN w/OD and 3.64 diff.
The car runs great under all conditions with no issues.

I had an OBX manifold and muffler on my Miata.
It sounded like revenge of the rice rockets when the muffler blew out.
The mounting holes on the manifold required some filing to fit.
The manifold worked ok though.

I an sure that you have a reason to preserve the originality of your ‘74, but driving around with 44 year old seatbelts is probably not the safest idea.
Bluedevil can fix you up with some good safe belts.

I am not aware of the one piece carpet from Strock carpets.
i have re-installed a poorly fitted one piece carpet on my ‘76 and then replaced it with a multi piece set from the now defunct Bimmer Parts Co.
The multi piece set fit much better than the single piece set.
i recently ordered and received a multi piece carpet set from Esty for my ‘75. It is beautiful!
much better than the previous multi piece set I installed on my other car. Although I have not installed the carpet kit from Esty, the initial inspection shows it to be of extremely high quality and well made.
happy shopping.

It is always a good idea to keep a spare regulator and brushes.
It helps with troubleshooting.

The blue wire is very important.
It not only lights the “L” light on the dash, but also excites the alternator circuit so it will charge. I know, the connection on my blue wire at the back of the alternator broke off in my hand after a 200 mile road trip with the L light flashing. Charging was 13.5v.
Using a multimeter, what kind of volts are you getting at the battery connections with the engine off, then with the engine running?
You should be getting above 13.2 volts with the engine running.
Recommend doing a search for Rob Siegel’s articles on BMW changing system Diagnostics, alternators and charging systems.
Or buy The Hack Mechanics guide to European Automotive Electrical systems.
