Either option will work.
Thanks for updating my figures. I stand corrected.
i just looked at my receipt. I was remembering $1595 as the total cost. Not considering the core deposit or installation.
i paid $1595 for a rebuilt and warranted VLS differential, a 500 core deposit, plus installation at Metric Mechanic.
Great folks to deal with!

To iinca,
Yes I received your pm, however Jesse indicated on the original ad that he wanted one of the other radiators and requested photos.
Another person also asked about radiators on the original ad, but I have not heard from him.
Since you backed out of the original sale, due to shipping cost, this places you at number 2.
With professional packing and shipping this cost may be near the original #’s you balked at for a tested radiator.
I am making no money on this. I am doing this as a favor for the 2002 community.

Nice paint job.
Metric Mechanic will sell you a completely rebuilt LSD with gearing of your choice for just a little more money.
With a warranty.

I have 3 radiators. Numbered 1,2&3.
Number 1 has a chunk out of the engine side .
Number 2 has some fin damage from a fan strike and appears to be the best of the bunch.
Number 3 is an aftermarket 3 core radiator that is thicker than the others. This may need an electric pusher fan based upon engine fan clearance.
The radiators are free for pickup in Huntsville AL. If you would like them shipped, you need to pay for packing and shipping.
The folks that posted have first dibs. If not interested, I will repost on the FAQ, then if no one wants them they are going to the scrap yard.

This one even has the reinforcement doubler above the wheel well. The new OEM quarter panels from BMW don’t have that.

Jesse,
I have not forgotten you. I will try to get a picture taken this Friday or Saturday. I have to move a bunch of stuff in the shed to get to the radiators.

Jesse,
I have about 4 more radiators in various condition that have not been checked. One is a 3 core and thicker than the others.
I inherited the radiators from a guy that used to race 2002’s in CA and they were his spares.
I originally was going to ship the radiators to Curt Ingram to use as cores and to get a radiator out of the deal. Unfortunately Curt passed away years ago and I still have the radiators..
If interested, I can provide photos.
I will give you the radiator of your choice to support the ‘02 community if you pay for packing and shipping. Otherwise they may go to the scrap metal guys.
FYI one of the original purchasers for this radiator backed out after he found that shipping from Alabama to California was $50.
With professional packing, it may be more than that.
Glad to help out.

Thanks for your interest.

I used the vent window latches from an E-21.
Not original, but they hold the window open.
There is nothing worse than having a rear window slam shut at 70mph.
You wonder what just hit you.

Radiator is still available. Boxed up for shipment.
Previous buyer dropped out due to high cross country shipping costs.
i am in Huntsville AL.

I will take the BBS caps.

Price: $60Location: Huntsville, Al
Description:I inherited a bunch of 2002 radiators and had the best one checked and repaired as needed as a service to the ‘02 community.
I paid $60 to have the radiator checked and will sell the radiator for that plus shipping.
FYI - the radiator has a dimple on the top at the passenger side as shown in photo.
No drain plug.

Inspect them often. I replaced mine with standard mounts after failure.

This works.
I have switched the mounts from side to side on 2 - 2002’s and have no issues. Clearance is a bit tight. Be careful that you do not chip your paint, if new.

I raised the rear of the 5 spd XMSN and shoved the rear of the XMSN as far to the left (drivers side) as I could. Realigned the guibo and flanges.
The fan is still pretty close to the radiator on the right (passenger side.

From your photo, It looks like a 35 amp alternator. I cannot see how the alternator is wired.
Apparently the plug is not plugged into the back of the alternator.
For the higher amp alternator conversion, In addition to the brown grounding wire, You should have 2 wires going into the back of the alternator.
I forget how they are labeled, but the larger (red) wire goes to the bolt with a 13 mm nut. The smaller, I think, blue wire goes to the smaller connector with an 8 mm nut. The smaller wire is what turns the light on on the dash and excites the alternator.
If the connection on this wire is bad, the dash light will flicker.
In your case, if using the 35 amp alternator the connector on the blue wire at the plug may need checking.

If your horns aren’t working, try spraying oil or WD 40 into the horns.
Also reverse wires and try spraying oil into compressor air intake and run compressor by using horn button.
This should get your compressor working. Put the wires back where they belong and try the horn..

I have a set of Fiamm Air Horns on my 2002.
I got tired of folks pulling out in front of me. I also have a set of the same horns on my Miata.
The Fiamm Riveria air horns are available on Amazon and are now made in China, but they work well with no issues.

Thanks Chris & Slavs.
Yes the rear end low appears to be the standard characteristic of Miller and Norburn springs.
Now I need to get s set of 3 dot upper mounts to even things out as much as possible and call it quits. The car drives very nicely and corners well.

Recommend talking to Mike or Steven at Pierce Manifold since you bought the carbs from them.
Pierce Manifold is closed on Friday.
They were a big help to me with my 45 DCOE.

No. This is an adapter for a compression tester.
I know, because I have done this.
Your car will run on all four cylinders now instead of three.
You will be amazed at how much power you have and how much better it runs.

Spring Coils diameter measure as below:
LF 13.62mm, RF 13.58mm
LR 13.58mm, RR 13.37mm
Not sure these numbers are significant enough to change springs front to rear.
All spring height’s are the same.
Any ideas for raising the rear to match the front?
Thanks,
Frank

That’s sad.
Hopefully Emily will see the light of day, someday as someone’s “barnfind” with a bunch of dust or hay all over and she has been sitting on a concrete pad. That would give Emily some nice patina for the next generation. We can only hope!

What is the DOT date on the tires?
I try not to use anything over 10 years old.
Some say 8.
