  1. Stu, Did I meet you in a parking lot in issaquah maybe five years ago? That car looks familiar. At the time that car was NICE NICE NICE--and it looks like you've done way more to it since then. Good luck, Toddman
  2. Everyone, the car is sold. Thanks, Todd P.S. I met a really nice guy today, Tom Jones (above). I would trust this guy to fix/inspect/preview ANYTHING BMW related in the bay area. First class, and incredibly knowledgeable.
  3. M-Racer, It sounds like I offended you somehow by response. That wasn't my intention and please accept my apology. My reserve on the car was $17,500.00. If anyone wants to make me an offer feel free to email me through the forum, or my personal email toddman@gmail.com Thanks everyone, Toddman
  4. I'm not sure how to respond to you without sounding negative--Please don't take it that way. The exhaust is incredibly solid, doesn't clank or rub, and the mounting hardware holds it firmly in place. I'm happy to take the car to any local shop or have anyone come and look at it. I've had to do no major repairs on the vehicle since I've owned it and there are no quality issues. This is a really nice 41 year old survivor. It's a 2002 with the wishlist of rare specialty parts already installed on it.
  5. Hey Tom, I am free Saturday Evening If you're interested in coming by. If you can't make it by I can also try and send you some better photos of the air cleaner mounting. Thanks Todd
  6. Hi Everyone. I'm selling my 02. I don't drive it at all other than a trip to the store every few months and it's time someone else enjoy it. I think it would make someone who's really into these cars very happy, as it would be difficult to find an original rust free clean survivor with all the neato 2002 trick parts already on it. I wont be sad to see it go to someone who appreciates it. Some Highlights: A lot of Alpina parts including a roll cage c/r 5 speed c/r steering box 323 rear brake setup w/ 914 calipers Here's the link to ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260732267309&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT#ht_583wt_1098 Cheers, Todd
  7. Has anyone tried mounting a 6 speed manual e36 or e46 tranny into a 2002? They seem to be plentiful, and not terribly expensive. I'm not bothered by the machining for a bell housing change, my biggest concern is if the transmission tunnel would accept one of these larger transmissions. Thanks Todd
  8. LOL, thats pretty cool man. :-) I dig it
  9. The car looks dreadful with all the trim stripped, pre 73 front end, square tail end and it looks like it's not been tenderly cared for. That said IT WOULD TAKE YEARS and a TON OF CASH to find that collection of parts buying them individually....Any of us on this forum would be tickled to find a car with all those bits on it... And it's worth.....whatever you'll pay for it :-) Toddman
  10. I still say we need to get all the 02's in seattle together--sunny day of course :-)
  11. Ditto. I use this pump, it's mounted in my trunk with a fpr. I am told an fpr is unnecessary....
  12. 1725 is a bargain....if it works Toddman
  13. Your cooling system is indeed pressurized. As it heats and cools, coolant will expand and overflow out the vent. Generally if you bleed the system properly when you fill it with coolant to avoid air pockets in the system, there's enough space in the standard 02 radiator to expand/contract without spilling much fluid out. This time of year, I never see anywhere close to the half way mark. BTW, In sammamish? Where? I am in renton, and just about to take my car out for a spin. The roads dried up in time for a nice little night time drive :-) We should organize a meeting for all the 02 seattle folks... Toddman
  14. Also, do a search on the archives. There's several accounts and good advice to be had. I've had this problem for ages, and it's taken me for bloody ever to rectify it. The last piece of my puzzle is my valve cover breather; it is blowing straight into my weber airbox assembly. This in turn is wafting a very rich smell (from the webers and exhaust) back into the cabin, especially when the car has been stopped. Prior to this, I've had my tank checcked to ensure it holds pressure, no tank boot, rerouted the breather to come out by the license plate, marine sealed fuel line now connects the tank to the pump, pump to the webers etc...50% of the 2002's I've had suffered this problem. Sometimes its an easy fix like a bad tank seam or crappy fuel lines, other times, it's more complicated. Thinks that make a huge difference: 1.) Good trunk seal 2.) Good fuel line (if it runs through the cabin--either marine or steel) 3.) Good Hood seals 4.) Sealed Tank Email me if you get stuck Toddman
  15. Thicker oil will give you the same result. What are you running now? As far as additives go, anything that gums up enough to stop leaks, stops flow. This is bad, VERY bad. I wouldn't use it. Toddman
  16. Okay Todd, I'm inspired!! I'm off to the junkyard this week. --Toddman
  17. If they can fit a steering box and brake circuit in there thats gonna be one hell of a car. I guess *technically* if you're drag racing you don't need to turn or stop :-> Toddman
  18. ...for the valve cover vent? I am thinking about installing one inline between my air filter assembly and the valve cover breather and was looking for recommendations/pointers. --Toddman
  19. I'd choose my border collie over my bmw any day of the week. Toddman P.S. He doesn't ride in the 02 however :-)
  20. Dude, that is one smooooth Ride. Very Very nice --Toddman
  21. I can't remember what it came off...I used to run my lights, piaa's (I was young and thought these were cool), stereo and wipers with plenty of juice left. Toddman
  22. I had an 80 amp alternator on my tii that did NOT require a different mounting bracket, only the wiring was different. I don't remember what vehicle it came off originally, I want to say a 320. Toddman
  23. 02's are worth what people will pay for them as stated previously in this thread. In my mind, they're still a bargain. Seen the price of restored gtv's lately? or even worse, early 911s's. Even Cortinas are getting pricey... Get while the gettings good. If you got the cash, these cars are an absolute bargain. Toddman
  24. Not sure this helps: when I bought my spare c/r 5 speed NONE of the numbers were anywhere even close to the numbers on the box I already had. The boxes however are identical, even down to the casting seam edges. Toddman
