Its been a while since I checked this out... looks good mate! Keep up the hard work. Shouldnt be long now hey?
-
I've spent the last 4 days up to my elbows in 2002s... from installing a dash to redoing the pinch welding and new rubbers I've done it all.
I've remained calm and patient.
I purchased an Inka 74 that I drove for the first time on Saturday - over 2 years since I last drove a 2002! I had a grin ear to ear! Great day! I'm really looking forward to taking the Polaris for a drive.
-
But, it beats spending hundreds of dollars for new trim, right!?
not in my opinion...frugal me tried that route...it sux a big one....it dulls more frequently than occasionally...it will dull at the touch....if you want lifetime maintenance i say go for it, otherwise, invest in a good used set or call blunt
Hahaha, I haven't been around here for a while... Esty, you've changed!
-
I did mine today... it was a tad stressful, but got through it alright.
-
Try here for the store.
Also try Blunt - unkorama@gmail.com he might be able to get you an OEM kit at a reasonable price...

I was wondering where the cheapest place to purchase an under hood sticker kit? Including battery/filter/body color/etc. I'm after a place that sells them cost affectively.
Any ideas or suggestions where? Its one of those finishing touches that I have to add.
Thank you in advance!

Ahhhh shiiiit balls! I just saw this mate!
I wasn't able to talk yesterday as I was driving in traffic in my Inka with no windows in it in the rain... it was a bit noisy hahahaha!
Good luck with getting it sorted out. Go and get a quite from Charlie Battisti & Co. They will fix the car up perfectly!

Mine is my first car... sentimental... yes. If this car could tell a story... I'd be in jail! I got my first speeding fine, learned to smoke out neighbourhoods, spent late nights fooling about in the back seats, rallying with all the lads in the car... my sentimental tweak was that I am restoring it when I will never get the cash back! Chances are I will never get any money in return for it if I sold it... its a labor of love.
Ask Steve, I hope he made a killing out of all the parts I'v brought from him. Last night we put the roof lining in (OEM part along with replacing all the trims, etc. OEM rubbers) the bits inside with new bits or parts sourced locally that were better than mine...
-
Wow, you spent all that time on a car that looks like that!?! What were you thinking? I thought you had good taste Steve... a 2002? Who'd blow all their hard earned on an old BMW? I always knew you were crazy!
Oh, yeah... it looks sweet! How fast did you go? More pics in the daylight!! I hope your wife appreciates how hard you worked to make her car look that good.

I dub it El Kermean02...

I started to pull the orange car down... there is a lot of damage an its quite expensive to fix. Not looking good for the car :-( The bloke who does my work says theres a fair bit of $$ in the B pillar alone, not to mention the other parts I need..
I've driven it and its great fun though! Be it with very flat spotted tyres.
-
Its expensive, yet far more rewarding than a crack habit....

Can someone please clean this spammin' shhiiittt up...
I have updates just around the corner.
I just got a package in from a certain *not so sharp* BMW parts dealer from the US and its all go again... Thanks Steve!
In the mean time, I have purchased this little unit.
The car won the 2003 BMWCCV Show & Shine master class, numerous awards and has featured in The Age newspaper... it was immaculately restored around 7 years ago.
1974 BMW 2002
2.0lt twin 40 webers w/ electronic ignition, fuel pump, etc.
Koni adjustables, Eibach springs
Fatter sway bars
5 speed conversion
323i disc brake rear end
Cibie Oscar driving lights with factory driving light switch
Mahle bottle cap wheels x5
Ansa sports exhaust
Scheel leather seats
Alpina Momo steering wheel
New seat belts
Perfect black interior
Crack free dash
Nakamichi head unit with Boston Acoustic speakers
Immaculate though out...
Only problem is the car was t-boned by a truck recently and the drivers side needs a lot of work. I'm not sure what I am going to do with it as it is quite an expensive repair job.

Hurry up and get the damn thing finished! I want to see it! Hahaha
Nice work Steve. I have'nt forgotten about the part numbers, just been run off my feet.
-
That Sentra doesnt look like it has much tread on the tyres! :-P
-
Thanks for the kind words Michael... I love that picture as well! The timing was PERFECT and a really did fluke that shot!
I will send you an email with a higher res version of the image, Jake. Will it list who the image is by on the picture page? I would appreciate that.
Cheers,
Todd

Want to come to my place in Australia and finish my car? I've lost momentum... :-(

Nice to hear of another "Combined minds of 02faq" success story!
-

Too bad they dont give out trophies for your level of enthusiasm...

Where is this beast at??
-
I thought the 02 had round taillights up through 1973 and square ones from 1974 through 1976. Or is that a USA thing?
Its got a 12th December 1973 build date... 1974 model. Australian Compliance Jan 1974.

"HEY HONEY!!! CAN YOU COME AND TAKE ANOTHER PIC OF ME FOR THE PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET!?!?!"
"YES dear... call me when you have your clothes off"
Dam! You're good! Dead on.
My 18 y/o daughter runs and hides when I announce that!
Actually, many are merely using the "timer" option. Once I set the timer and ran to get into position...I tripped and fell....this was the end result:
Here's my wife...she has a sense of humor!!
Classic!
