I have a lockable fuel cap and I have never ever had an issue with fuel leaking out of my cap... maybe some extra thick rubber around your cap will fix the issue.
When I pump I always wait a few seconds after I finish pumping and give it a little shake... (like when you go to the bathroom) no one wants drips do they??

Thanks guys! Most appreciated. The car is alreay paited, but it has been scratched in a few less obvious places and will be repaired, so when they do, they will fill my old holes.
Its begining to look like a car I think...

Terry, I love your car... it keeps me inspired with my build up. I'd love to see more pics of the car now that it has the Alpina 16" rims on it...

Nice one buddy... your car appeared on the Serious Performance 7 DVD that was sold in Australia in 2003 (approx.).
I watched it and loved it...
Nice work, have you done anything to it since?
-
Next one... I hope :-)

I am a real sucker for keeping everything looking original I guess, but I prefer the strip on the back. Without it I can help but think it looks like a MkI Ford Cortina from behind. My mate who is a non-car head said that to me ages ago when we were looking at a few 2002s... I had never really thought of it that way, but it really was obvious to me and I cant get it out of my head.

It's been a while people, but I am back with a vengeance...
The car is all sprayed, looking top notch. I am now in the process of putting it back together as well as searching for a few illusive parts that I cant seem to get my hands on :-(
Once again, Blunt has been terrific in supplying all the BMW parts in a timely and affordable manner. Most appreciated!
I finally received my headlining from Al just after the new years, I am yet to fit it, but it will happen soon, I will let you know how I go... no sunroof is supposed to be the hardest... I cant wait! I have no patience at all!
The workshop finally opened up after the christmas break/the owner overseas, so I have spent the last two days fitting bits and pieces, tidying up, etc.
In the next two days there should be some serious progress and I will keep you all posted and make sure I snap some pics... It is all very exciting to me... the home row now.

to post a picture, get its url - like for instance, this shot:
http://joyoftech.com/joyoftech/joyimages/910.gif
then add what they call image tags to it... quite simply
And you get:
Sorry bout the random image, but I just copied the link to show it to a friend :-P

Very nice pics! Did Diana have electric windows?

I'm partial to Chili Red :-P
There are some top people in VA with MINI's that I used to keep in cntact with from mini2.com... do you catch up with any of the MINI crowd?

I think it should be seperated as then things dont end up 10 pages back after a week and forgotten. With search being a tad tedious on the site, I think it is a great idea to seperate the forum into different groups.
All the other forums I visit have it seperated and it makes finding more specific information much easier. Until you try it, it is tough to say no.

5 doors up from me is an Alfa nut! He has a 147GV as his daily, a Motreal as his project... 3 doors up has a Bentley Continental GT Flying Spur and a new Range Rover Vogue... on the opposite side of the road 3 doors up has a collection of various MG's including a really cool MG B GT. Further up the road has a collection of old Jags... further up has a collection of old VW's including a Karmann Ghia... my dads garage is the envy of most neighbours though :-P
There are 4 former mayors in our street and the former chief of police...
Yet, still this dumb teenage girl across the road organises stupidly large parties that get busted up by the cops inside 2 hours! Great fun to watch! hahaha.

My mates dad's DS21 has 988,000kms on it! There are some sensational old Citroens in Australia!
-
This car has been shown before... the pics last time looked sensational!
-
I love your DS mate! I am a huge fan of the old land whales... My mates dad has a DS21 and my other family friends have a Safari as well.
-
Actually I think that is what it said... I cant remember :-P Something about lovers...
-
Both very nice! You cant beat Polaris IMHO!
-
There was a car at the gym today with "Virginia, the place for Lovers" sticker on the back... thought of the 02ers from Virginia.

Don't forget about us non-Tii drivers... we need to roll together as one to fight evil (rust) if we plan on surviving!

The question is:
What did you trade it in on at a Lotus/AM dealership? :-D
It looks good, the carpet is multipiece, was this standard in 1602's? Also the mylar boards from the trunk are missing... pretty little car otherwise. It was on eBay mid last year from memory.
Cheers,

Oh! And at the light before i was getting into my apt complex a older gentleman looked at my car and goes "is that a 2002?" So i replied "yes sir it is!" And he said "those are great cars! I used to have one in college." I can already see im gonna love owning this car
Welcome! I'm sure your car is a real treat and will provide you with hours of entertainment!
This situation you describe above was a common occurrence for me when I drove my 2002 daily. Quite often when I was filling up with gas, I would get an older bloke jump out of a mundane standard run of the mill type car and start talking with so much passion for his love of the '02... it was a real buzz for me and I am sure they loved it too.
-
Agreed Alan, I was thinking in terms of drivability, technology, future modifications (and overall aesthetics :-P) the S14 was the way to go for me.

You have no idea how glad that makes me. We've had a bad run as of late, but 07 is looking up already.
Al
No worries.

The car is currently in a state of final reassembly.
It is still a fair way off as I have to organise many things before I can drive it - the motor is getting a single 45 weber side draught manifold and a few other little bits to make it sing that little louder.
So here are a few update pictures...
Lurking in the darkness
All new headlights, turn signals, grills, wings, nose section...
Turn signals are just sitting there for the moment - I snapped the drill bit fucking around with it on something else and had to pick one up this afternoon, but ran out of time.
Nice and straight Polaris Respray... doors are yet to be adjusted, just hanging - we will put a bit more effort into making the panel fit and gaps nice and smooth in the coming weeks.
Badger, badger, badger... this is the original badge, I think I might get a new one... what do people think about a new badge or keep the old one? Every other shiney bit has been replaced on the car...
Tail happy - brand new rear lights - just gotta get some clips to fit the rear strip (yeah, I'll have to pull the lights out to fit that, but I wanted to get them in place to make it look a bit neater today... you can also see the centre exit exhaust and the tow loop that is covered in overspray...
Still a long way to go, but its nice to be going through final reassembly rather than fitting and removing all the time like have been doing on and off for the past how ever long...
I thought I would never consider another project after some of the headaches I have had with this car, but I've already started planning the next non-02 project.
