I'm prepping the TII for the 1500 miles, staying in Hoover at the Microtel
-
I'll be there with a tii, panshovelgeo says he'll be there with his '73, Martin will have his tii touring there(he's here at the shop now) and I'm sure some others too
-
I'll be sleeping at the HamptonInn, in the nearby village of Lincolnshire.
Any breakfast ideas?
-Ben
we stay at the doubletree partially due to proximity to Ellys pancake house. Also consider the coffee and classics Sunday AM in Winnetka
-
some are already booked at the Doubletree in Mundelein, I plan to book there, discounters had a better rate than the hotel

http://www.windycitybmw.com/photo.aspx?moid=24614 here's a link to the windy city bmw vintagefest two weeks from today, bring it with a sale sign, 02ers from many states will be there

for restoration. paint, interior condition, and running gear not as important as restorability of body.
midwest prefered but not critical.

a 750 kawasaki, in one piece. gotta find that picture!
-
if you don't find what you want, or even if you do, come to windy city bmw vintagefest 9/24 in Lincolnshire, there's always 02 stuff at the swap meet there.

Coil overs are not standard in the rear on e21s....or any other bmw.
coilovers come stock in. the front on just about every bmw made, including the 2002.
I think they're called Chapman struts, but they are pretty much a coil over.

turn the ignition on, and the switch to high, check for 12v at the positive motor teminal and ground at the negative. Both wires go through the box at the resistor, depending on the year, the neg or pos lead goes through the resistor except on high speed. You can check voltage at the resistor connector without removing the box to know if the fuse/wires/switch are good to the box. Heat is probably important in duluth!

I use a couple of them as shelves

1. Double clutch when shifting to second gear even with good synchros
2. check the mirror for trailing throttle overcast when engine braking
3. find the signal stalk is on the wrong side of the column in your d.d.
4. try to turn the vents over center on a hot day
5. find 4000 rpm normal at 72mph
6. pull the ebrake up a notch when the brake pedal travel seems long
7. depend on the trip odometer over the fuel guage
8. set the choke on cold starts even in fuel injected cars
9. go to rummage sales confident that anything you buy will fit in the trunk
10. can spot thumbs up from other drivers in your peripheral vision

I don't think it does, check the website, it will tell you, I had to spec an Ireland brace for one I was restoring.

this was a well attended event last year, over 100 cars, i plan to attend, I'd be interested in caravanning or meeting FAQmembers up there.

sounds more serious in german!
Reminds me of a race in the 70s I worked at the Milwaukee Mile, a Pinto went through an unoccupied concession stand.

a REAL Mann would've slept in the car with the seat folded back
I slept in my E23 so often I started callin it the Bavarian Motor Lodge

part of the problem is the plastic ramps that determine the difference between the height of the panel when closed and when openedwear down, and the panels are adjusted higher, which means closer to the roof skin, when closed. this leaves the panel closer to th skin when opened too. the wedges were still available as of january.

if it was a squarelight with stock wheels, that's Allan

I'd have held out for 90 minute! Guard those injector tubes, some of the BMW replacements are black plastic and straight, look like ass!

I'm filling an otherwise stock Behr system that has been converted to a Sanden compressor, does anyone know what the new fill capacity will be?
TIA

I'm leaving Sunday with a probable overnight in Nashville, and a brewpub exploration in Huntsville sometime that week, may have a convoy with a TI and M coupe.
