  1. If you (or anyone else) wanted to go down the route of a trim-less front bumper I have corners on a 71 bumper I would consider trading for similar condition parts (as I recall they are 100% straight and above average condition, possibly some pitting in chrome but been a while since I looked at the bumper and can verify).
  2. Anyone have any details, good websites, etc. about what type of engine swaps are typical for a 2000? Would an m20 be suitable? I'd think the engine bay would be a bit bigger then a 2002 bay. m30? Thanks!
  3. Sorry Mike, can't take you up on that. I have too many cars, that is why I need to get rid of this one.
  4. Car has been sitting for 4 years, and overall needs a typical restoration. The body is 100% straight, bumpers are unharmed, but of course could use rechroming. Only rust found on this car is the drivers side rear rocker panel. Everything else looks very clean and rust free. The paint is a horrible respray. It currently is a non-runner. But was parked as a running car. I believe the carb is clogged. I got it to start up for a few moments before it died again, and it did sound healthy. I just have not had a chance to mess with it more. Since I purchased the car I por15'd the the area around the gas tank and put a fresh gas tank + gas in the car, and replaced the fuel filter. I also did an oil change. According to the PO there was a lot of maintenance done on this car prior to it being parked. The engine was overhauled along w/ brake work, etc. The engine bay is very clean looking and dry. So I am under the impression that only typical petty maintenance would be necessary to get it to be a runner. Sunroof needs to be installed. But it is included. I am reluctant to sell, but I have too many projects and need to thin down the fleet. Looking for $2700 for the car. It is presently garaged in Keyport, NJ. You won't find a much cleaner complete roundy in NJ for the price.
  5. Good condition. Includes hub, came off of a '73 2002. $50 shipped
  6. I need to get new parts for the sunroof on a '72 I just purchased. Can anyone tell me if what is pictured in this thread is exactly what I will get if the right and left cable are purchased? http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,309118/highlight,sunroof+cables/ Notice there is a plastic piece (which I am pretty sure is definitely included), pin, and two other metal pieces and a bolt. It appears the part number for the left and right side cable are: 54121801433 (left) 54121801434 (right) My next question is if the plastic guide is included when purchasing the sliders for the front of the sunroof. Here is a picture from my2002tii: http://www.my2002tii.com/spring_2005/sunroof/DSCF2656.JPG part number: 54121815185 Thanks
  7. I have a '72 that is in need of new cables and I likely need any other associated smaller hardware for the sunroof (I did not take it apart, and it appears i may be missing a part or two). I have the aluminum covers that surround the cable. Let me know what you have. I will probably purchase all these parts from the dealer later today if pricing is not that outrageous, so let me know asap if you have these parts for a decent price. Thanks! You can email me at e304lyfe[at]gmail[dot]com
  8. CD-- I appreciate you spending the time pointing out the failure points. I agree that this axle is not 100%, so it should be replaced with a better unit. Would a '73 unit be a suitable replacement? This is one point nobody has touched on, as there clearly are differences. I have since cleaned the splines, and they look fine.
  9. Which one are you talking about? The one on the left is the one I am concerned about, the other one on the right is what I am thinking about replacing it with. The reddish brown on the spline of the one on the right is no-cease that someone must have put on the spline so it did not get stuck to the hub. I have since cleaned it off and the spline looks fine.
  10. I am in the process of rebuilding the rear suspension on my '76. I noticed the drivers side stub axle appears to have have some pitting on the bearing surface, and the spline also seems to have some pitting, but is not distorted. Is this something I should be concerned about? I pulled off a stub axle off of my '73 that I parted out and realized it is different. The '73 is not threaded and thinner where it meets the half shaft. I'd assume they are interchangeable. I am leaning towards running the '73 axle on one side, and '76 on the other.... But if there is a significant advantage to the '76, I will buy a new one or source a good used one (or maybe the one I have is ok?) This car will be getting an s14, and I have heard their is potential for failure on these components. TIA Axle in question... pitting is on bearing surface nearest to and on the spline. Comparison of '76 on left, and '73 on right (no cease is on the spline... that is why it is brownish red)
  11. BBS RZ 378. Nice rims, bad offset for '02s. I have a set on my e30.
  12. Hi Al, Was this "last run" of carpets made completed? I have sent you a paypal for a carpet set and have yet to see it pop up in the mail. Let me know when I should expect it. e304lyfe@gmail.com
  13. Maybe if you take the 3rd brake light out of a car that came with on, and got rear ended. But given 2002's never came with 3rd brake lights, you cannot be at fault not having one in an accident.
  14. hey neil. good to see you're still around. probably don't remember me, but you gave me some advice on my hunt for a rust free NJ '02. if you recall i was looking for a cheap non-rusty "project". (this conversation was probably more then a year ago) finally found one! (and shortly after another '02 followed, pretty rust free from what i can determine, but hit). hope to meet up some day @a meet once your back in the drivers seat.
