Where would be a good place to but a new universal air conditioning kit from , the sort of kit you can get for classic trucks you know the one fits all type of kit

Try this place I have had good luck with them they bend over backwards. Even made me a custom fitting for my original evaperator. looks like this might even fit inside of a standard 2002 center console. http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/air-conditioning/ud-500-under-dash-air-only-thin-evaporator-608.php

Ozzy hope the bracket worked out sounds like everything is up and working.

thanks for all the info , do you have any pictures of your air con fitted in your cars

Mine came with a fridgeking unit (BMW aftermarket for 2002) and i just redid everything. I kept the original evaporator and replaced everthing else. I tossed the york compressor and got a sanden 508 and had a bracket built, new hoses, fittings and dryer. I also bought a new condenser 11"x 18 with electric fan. all from http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/air-conditioning/universal-r-134a-hose-kit-with-drier-359.php I will see if I can find some shots in the car. What are you looking for?

Dave, who did the bracket? This is the bracket that mounts the compressor to the block? Is it driven by a separate belt? Thanks

I went to a great place here in Houston. Dropped it off on a Weds and they had it ready on Monday. The AC blows nice and cold. Seeing it was an ALL New system and a bigger condenser, I had them use 134a.

I a really happy with it! Wish I had done it sooner. Instead of spending money on continually fixing the old dealer installed AC. Now I have a brand new system with a warranty.

Could not have done it with out (02hobiedave) Dave having those brackets made to fit the rotary compressor. Thanks again!
