Does anyone know if I connect a hose between the two ports outlined in the pic or are they connexted some other way?

remove the covers and see where the

holes run to - you going to that anyway

to clean the jets and bowls ? aren't you?

those are vent outlets for the fuel bowl chamber you can cap them but i'd leave them alone.

According to tech at twminduction the open tubes/ports are the breather to the cold start unit. These are mounted on Cannon manifolds hooked to a 1.8 on a parts car I purchased for the motor and 5 speed. I've cranked the engine over and it has spark but no fuel. The fuel pump should come in tomorrow so if all goes well it'll be running this weekend. Hopefully the pair are well tuned as two owners back is a mechanic who daily drove the car but its been sitting since 05. I'll rebuild the carbs sooner or later depending upon how they run.
