3rd tail light delay??? please help.

Recommended Posts

I installed a new after market LED 3rd brake light.

Everything is ok except that theres now a 1/2 second delay from when the pedal is pressed and the light up on all tail lights.

I wired ground through the right negative brake lamp wire......

After viewing the instructions it says to body ground the light and just run off the hot wire from a tail lamp.

I dont want to ground on the body if i dont have to.

Will grounding from the body change the delay????????

My home made 3rd light had no delay and was hooked straight to the lamp ground.

Try hooking up your multi meter to see if the voltage is immediate. Run a temporary dedicated ground to chassis (You can put and alligator clamp on it) and see what it does. That will tell you if it is the fixture/bulb or your installation.
