I moved a vw-bus engine in my 02 trunk and just put down a sheet of 3/8 plywood under it. No problems at all. I think I also put cinder blocks on either dide of it to keep it from moving around.

It was a complete Alfa motor. I would NOT put an engine in the rear unless you are only driving a few blocks. We sure had the ol' Tii stuffed on the way down. (Would have been awful to have been in an accident.) We had a full zender kit stuffed inside with the pass. sitting in the left rear seat. We had 2 trannys in the trunk along with lots of tools. The pass. seat was up on the roof.

On the way back, we had a tranny and some other parts we had bought in the trunk, along with your nose, a driveshaft and a couple of 02 wheels on the roof. The suspension was still bottoming out. Everyone was gawking at us..... Now that would have made a good photo.

We had one tire blow out on the way down and on the way back, one blowout and one tread separation!! Not a pleasant experience at highway speed! All 3 were on the rear. The freeways in some places are REALLY bad (as you folks probably know), especially in southern Oregon. The joints in concrete sections of some portions of the freeways literally beat the shit of of the cords in the tires. I think the cords snap one by one until the tire reachs a critical point, and then, pow!

The rear suspension can't really handle much weight as far as I can see. I think in the trunk is asking for a disaster. If you must, take the pass. seat out and put it there. That'd be much easier to load in and get out.

US Customs gave us supreme shit on the way into the States. They detained us for over 4 hours and threatened to escort Grahame back into Canada in handcuffs. All for doing nothing and just selling a few parts on e-bay.

Life is an experience!!!
