OEM swaybars on '71 02?

i was surprised when i realized that my late '71 02 does not have swaybars, but, the mounting points are still there. no evidence of being installed, either.

were swaybars optional equipment back then or were mine merely removed by a PO?

I'm guessing they were removed. Perhaps, even removed by the dealer

for some reason-or-another. As I understand it, only early 1600's came without sways.

all USA cars with 'em as "mandatory options." Your car may have been a European delivery to an American tourist or military member; then it could have been ordered/deleted with all sorts of stuff that you would/wouldn't have found on a Hoffman Motors-ordered car.

MT can tell you the build date of your car and to whom (dealer/distributor) it was first delivered.
