Identifying Petri Steering Wheels

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Going through a few steering wheels and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on these two Petri wheels. I can't seem to find too much info on either one.

The one on the right is similar to a 2002 turbo wheel but has a later hub adapter but still coarse spline. Was this wheel a factory option on late 70's/early 80's BMWs?

The one on the left is date stamped 02/82 but I can only assume that it's strictly an aftermarket wheel and not a factory option. It also has a later hub adapter that is coarse spline. Neat wheel but I'm not so sure it'll suit a 2002

Cheers!

The one that is similar to a 2002 Turbo wheel is an early E21 sport wheel.

The wheel with the slotted spokes came in two different sizes, and was generally just referred to as an ‘836’ or ‘838’ Sport Wheel, but it was never a factory steering wheel. The other as stated already is an e21 sport wheel. Both are fine for a 2002 as long as you have the correct hub or modify them appropriately for a 2002 with the horn contact pin.
