Description:

I purchased a parts car today that has a 1600 in it with a VIN on the block of 1561407, which dates to a 1967 1600. 118 stamp on the head.

The motor does turn over by hand, otherwise I know nothing about it.    The vehicle was stored indoors for the last 8 years, before that it was outside for an unknown period of time.  Will explore more later and maybe drop in fresh oil and attempt a start.

I am relatively new to the 2002 world, so may need some guidance answering any specific questions.

Interestingly, the parts car is a 1975 2002 that started its life as an automatic but this motor was installed at some point.  I haven't verified the transmission yet, but am assuming it is from the same donor 1600 as the engine.

Located in NH.  Not sure what this is worth - open to suggestions and offers. I can part the motor out but would prefer to avoid that if possible.

Thanks!

That serial # is more indicative of a 68 or early 69 1600. There is no difference in the motor. During the later part of 69 they went to an 8 hole Crankshaft vs. the 6 hole. But, other than that all standard 1600 motors were the same. The electrical for 66-67 was 6V. The style of valve cover on the motor is also indicative of a 68 and later car.

What is it worth ?

With things like this you always assume it needs a complete rebuild.
