Here's an update.  I have spent this week working on re-wiring the headlight bucket (something I dreaded), but got it to work.  Did the valve covers this morning, and I'm waiting for gaskets for the petcocks.  I'll adjust the throttle and choke cables today and then probably roll everything back into the garage.

 

It's coming along nicely.  Hopefully be breathing fire by this weekend or next.

oh - and I guess this is what would be considered a "cosmetic" restoration.  Here's what I've done:

 

1.    Replaced rear shocks with new shocks.
2.    Replaced all exhaust with correct exhaust.
3.    Added correct license plate holder.
4.    Added rear reflector
5.    Fixed and Painted all bodywork – fenders and tank.  Tank was fixed with minimum body filler.
6.    Replaced gas cap with vintage BMW aluminum gascap (polished locally).
7.    Custom, hand painted pinstriping by Jim Carnifax (Houston)
8.    Replaced battery tray.
9.    Re-chromed luggage rack.
10.    Added tool kit

12.    Replaced footpeg rubbers

30.    Replaced circuit board in the headlight bucket (board and key switch)
