Door Knee Trim Bracket?

The threaded part of the metal bracket for the door knee trim is too short. It doesn't reach through the door to allow me to attach the acorn nut.

 

Is there a longer option? Any other suggestion, other than fabricating a new bracket?

just one bracket or all of the brackets are short?...the metal is the same thickness all over the car...+ or- it's possible there is excess filler (bondo0) from previous body work

 

if the same bracket work in another location look inside the door for signs of body damage

It is definitely a bondo problem on the door, but one I need to solve. I could drill out the current bolt and braze in a longer one, but was hoping for a longer bracket already complete.

you could use a stainless washer that will slide in the trim with a flat head screw...i've used that setup a time or two when i didn't have enough clips and fasteners
