I am also looking to purchase a 81-83 245 in the $600 range. It has to be in solid smooth shifting non leaking condition with linkage included. Considering to replace my 4 spd 73 2002. Gregg, I'm pretty sure you want an 81-82 5-speed transmission as the 83 320i 5 speed is different.  Anyway, my 245 came out of a 320i that was in a junkyard so I can't guarantee its condition.  I think its OK but can't be 100% sure.  I have a couple of people local who want to see it.  If they don't buy it, I'll get back to you.
