Accelerator pedal/auto tunnel

So it would appear that my car was originally an automatic and thus has a wider tunnel. It also appears that the end of my accelerator pedal bracket (the horizontal section closest to the tunnel) actually interferes with the carpet before it goes all the way through its full range of motion.

Has anyone experienced this before and come up with a more elegant solution that 15 seconds with an angle grinder?

if the car was an automatic, you need to use

the lever and pedal that was on the automatic.

it is designed to clear the carpet and the entire

floor hump.  it is the only way to easily have

a throttle pedal.
