Question about seat belts (Recaros)

Recommended Posts

I got a set of VW power Recaros for my car and am going to sell the sliders. I'm wondering if I should take the buckles off of the sliders and keep those, and then buy a strap/clip that would fit. Is this what I should do?

You can only use the seat mounted buckle if your seat sliders and brackets are designed to take the kind of loads seen in an accident. I wouldn't take the chance, stick with the tunnel mounts and stalks.

The seat buckle will have a solid bar and is likely to be too short for the tunnel mount position.  You would also need to have a matching seatbelt tongue to fit in the buckle so I don't see how it would work unless you have the full assembly with the seatbelts from the Golf and they could be fitted to the 02 mounts on the B pillar.

The entire seat belt assembly is bought as a set with the stalks, belt and retractor. Lots of good manufacturers out there. Look for one that complies with relevant standards. Bluedevils on this board can fix you up.
