---after 5 years of brain-numbing research (and I can't stress the "RE" enough), I defended my thesis last Thursday and finished the PhD that's kept me here late many, many nights when I should have been working on the 02.

So to those of you who have in some measure been of assistance in general (especially with regard to my '73 - my brother Tim, my intrastate comrades Paul W, Matt S, Tim in MD, Bill Williams to mention the most frequently burdened with my questions and pleas for help) and those who I've had the pleasure of meeting around the Mid-Atlantic region (esp Dan and Dave Redman, The Rigmaster himself, and many I am currently forgetting), it would have been a real bitch not having a habit like the 02 when work was no fun.

To the rest of you all who have been generally helpful and supportive, even in the slightest, there is always a supporting cast to prop up any achievement - so thanks to you all for many hints, tips, insight, and good humor.

And to anyone who's been a pain in my ass, now you have to call me "DOCTOR Asshole"!!!

Thanks a million, y'all. Now I look forward to having TIME to work on the 02 again!

Now you can get back to the things that really matter, like working on your 02. What's your field?

I know how hard a PhD can be, my dad has been working on his for over 14 years, mainly because he hasn't had a lot of time. I on the other hand am not even close, don't even have a 2 year degree yet, I go back to school next year to get that finally.

Oh, you could now be Dr. 02!

My daughter will finish her BS in Biology next year and wants to continue on in the same field you did with a final goal of teaching. She was up until 2 AM last night studying for an Organic Chemistry test.

Hopefully you can get some sleep now!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
