This is why I started collecting BMW 2002's

Years back, I owned a 1965 Porsche 356C Cabriolet.  It was stolen from my garage while I was at work and later recovered wrecked in a parking lot.  I settled with the insurance company, purchased the car back and eventually sold it to a Porsche restoration company in Irvine with the thinking I would find another one down the road.  About 2 years later, the market for these cars exploded and I was unable to reasonably buy back in.  Now we are seeing cars like this one on eBay go for stupid money.

The moral to this story, is the BMW 2002 headed in the same direction as the Porsche 356?  Recent spikes in BMW 2002 pricing would support this notion, but maybe not to the level of the 356.

Thanks for letting me rant...
