No oil leaks are listed in the mechanical check

sheet. If you look under tranny, diff and motor of

the one I planning to drive, you could see oil,

nothing that would leave a puddle if parked for a

day, but I am worried about this particular

requirement on a 30 year old car. They must be

talking about extreme cases, is this a go no go

check?

i am doing my first school end of october and have

similar concerns on my '73. i doubt that little

amount of oil should make a difference. the tech is

a checklist and they don't keep the car for any

amount of time. i'm sure that they are focused on

the biggies like brakes and wheel bearings and

other major failures.

i hope.

Generally it visually leaking fluid they are worried about, as in putting oil on the track. You will be fine based on your description, you may want to climb under and clean off what you can before you go.

flagged for anything more than what looks like might fly off and get on someone's face screen and obscure their vision. Also we have to have catch bottles for everything that has overflow-blow-off-etc. This probably doesn't help much, but I'd give the surface a good cleaning before inspection.

your tech inspection will see the amount of oil/fluid you have underneath and will make the call- but i know that they usually dont punt a car for non-gushing leak. They obviously dont want a car out there laying down fluid, but that is not your car's case. You will pass tech, and you will just take a rag to the areas before you drive to the track. If your "seep" becomes a "leak" during the days, you may be black flagged. But you have driven your car hard already and it is holding, so that is unlikely. Even the modern cars have surface oil, other fluids present, and they are admitted. Who is doing your tech?

The 4-speeds leak all the time from the vent hole.

This is entirely normal. As long as you don't leave a puddle underneath don't worry.

There is a reason for the 10k oil change window on the gearbox.

Don't stress too much over the car. Just make sure it is in good shape a few days prior to the event. The night before the school should be for sleep ONLY.

The day of the event should be as little stress as possible. Make your checklists well in advance.

The top two items on your agenda for the day should be: #1- BREATHE, and #2- Have fun!

the helmet is checked for at least a sa95.dont take a motor cycle helment it will not pass [m]. that seats and seat belts are secure.. hub caps are removed..no loose items in or on car. check that the battery is well secured. i have never crawled under a car to check it prior to tracking..typically the corner workers will black flag ya if they see alot of smoke coming from a car.. and we will look under the car if u go two wheels off or more.. but that is to check for debris or damage to the car... you will have a ball i ran my 02 at gingerman this last month.. it leaks no problem and it turned a 1:52..

I bought an M helmet ( by mistake) but it is snell 2000, brand new, I dont understand why a M helmet would be unacceptable for in car use- it seems to me that M helmets have to be better to protect head than non-M: i wrote Bruce to see if i am compliant or whether i get to throw another "ki" on the fire, as it were.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
