engine and drivetrain Weight of 02 Engine (Shipping ideas from LA to SF?)

What is the weight of an 02 long block? Also, anyone with any experiences shipping an 02 engine from LA to SF or vice versa (cost)

I shipped my engine back and forth from Santa Rosa to Reseda with Mountain Valley Express. It was about $75 - $80 each way, they're an overnight service. I guessed the weight at 200 pounds, it worked for them. That was early this year, fuel prices are a little higher now.

It's over 400 miles for me each way, at 20 mpg that's about $80 in gas for each trip (NorCal gas prices). I say ship it!

On a pallet, make a box from 2X8s around the oil pan and strap the engine down onto it. Wrap in plastic with staples, and attach a large cardboard box over the engine by screwing it to a couple wood scraps attached to the pallet. Shippers want the package closed up. Took me less than 2 hours to "engineer" and build it.
