Drilling Holes Or Not...

I'm not really keen on drilling holes in to my car and feel like I am somehow doing it an injustice and making it more vulnerable to the elements....

I was looking at installing a Carter fuel pump and the bolt that comes with the pump would require a decent size hole.  My oil catch can is the the same.

I'm going to copy Marshall and make a mount for the catch can out of aluminum and use existing holes, but for the fuel pump etc is there a best practice for treating holes after the are drilled?

If i were going to drill holes Id drill and paint with a good bare metal primer and top coat. Then Id find grommets that would both isolate your fuel pump and act as sealant washers for the holes you just drilled and prepped
