  1. I have 6 turbine rims from BMW 320 sitting in my garage. I think 4 of them are matched and the other two were given to me by my friend. I'm just looking for someone who needs them and will take all six. The tires are shot. Pickup only. If you need more info on the , please text me at 201-315-335 nine. Paul
  2. I want to refinish the bumpers on my 1976 and read a bunch of posts that say I have to remove the anodizing and then progressively sand to a super fine grit... I really don't want to mess this up but what kind of sander am I using for this. If I am starting at a 200 grit it is a hand sand, an orbital? Will the 200 remove the anodizing? One of the post said they used an angle grinder to get the nicks out but that seems excessive. Also am i dry sanding at the lower grit? When do i switch to wet sanding. Any other info or a link to a video or pictures would be great. Thanks.
  3. Have you seen Lawrence's new build? It is a similar blue to the one you are considering.... He just did my 5 speed conversion and suspension and I took these pics of both cars at his house. The new build is unreal. Looks brand new and engine is crazy. Look at the air intake he made. Here are pics of both cars.
  4. New tires are coming but before I go there wanted to see what was going on with the squeal... before all upgrades there was no squeal at all. I could slide the car through turns worn out suspension and all and it was quiet... I will check the toe before anything....
  5. My terminology is weak so excuse anything that sounds stupid but my tires squeal like crazy when I'm turning (sweeping turn or sharp). I just replaced a ton of stuff including Bilstein HDs front/rear, IE Stage I springs, Ball Joints, Control Arms, all new Urethane Bushings, new bushings/end links on existing ST Bars front and rear...I also installed the negative camber plate based on the recommendation of Ireland. So the car rides like new and handles well... but it squeals... People look at me in my neighborhood like I'm Andretti, but I'm not going all that fast. The squeal is misleading to pedestrians.... All this work done but I'm still riding on 13" steel wheels with an off brand tire with good tread. My friend says its the camber that is causing this. Is that the case? Is it the tires? Something else? Again, the car feels solid in a long sweeping turn, but the squealing is 1. annoying 2. misleading and 3. makes me feel like I'm burning through tires. Thanks. Paul

  7. Mike, If you look at the bottom of the rows where the fan hit, they are leaking fluid. I need to see if they can be welded. It would seem a difficult if not impossible task but I'm sure anything is possible. Anyway the right front mount is a bit soft, but not broken. The engine sits pretty securely. Mounts / flex are the only answer it can be. I replaced the IE radiator with a 320 radiator and drove the car home up to 80MPH with no issues. Feels like a new car. Was just doing the 5 speed conversion but ended up with new bilsteins, IE Springs, ST Bars (from PO), new ball joints, control arms and all bushings replaced. Tons of other stuff done too that seem insignificant but bug you every day...
  8. So it would seem... The event happened when pulling out and making a hard right. Again I didn't jump on the throttle. Just wondering if the hard right and acceleration twisted everything just enough to make contact (especially if there is a mount issue). I know the trans mounts are brand new. Motor mounts appear to be good. Will report on findings...
  9. I have him checking everything now... In the meantime he's dropping a spare radiator into it temporarily until I figure out what I want to do. It was a long night with tow and the sad drive home from Poukeepsie to NJ without the car... especially sitting in 1 1/2 hours of traffic at 11 at night cause they decided to repave Route 87... Radiator... not good
  10. I picked up my car last night as I had it in the shop for a 5 speed conversion and did the radiator swap when my friend told me my old one was leaking. On the way home it seems one of my fan blades hit the radiator and put a hole in it. I was certain we had more than enough clearance. If someone can tell me what the problem could be that would be great. I would not think a fan blade could flex that much but maybe it is just that simple. The motor mounts appear to be fine. After the install of the Ireland Radiator, the blade that was in the car was actually rubbing against the welds. It was swapped out for what I think is called a tropic blade. The profile of the blade was a lot less and gave us about 1/2" or more clearance. I drove the car locally to test out the new trans and other suspension items installed and no issues with the fan. I got on the car quite a bit in my test drive. No issues. On my way home I went to fill up with gas. I turned right out of the station and heard a noise (which I know now was the fan blade breaking). 6 miles later I'm on the side of the road waiting for a tow. I guess I should have either gone with the electric fan or the 320 Radiator. Anyway after a long night of misery, I still don't have my car... The trans and suspension felt great for the 15 miles I drove it.
  11. I would guess it's gone??? My friend called a few days ago. The owner has had it for 31 years and it is in his garage in Mahwah (right on the NY state border). It has not run since it was parked. From the pictures it looks a bit rough but it is complete. Mahwah is 12 miles from my house/12 miles from my office. If anyone is serious about buying and needs me to take a ride, I can do that. Just text me at 201 315 33five9. You could also have it towed to my office and have it sit in my lot f you need a few weeks to pick up
  12. In the end I bought one on Friday from IE. I felt that the other options were going to cost around $200 - $250 and for an another $75.00 I was not only getting a quality radiator, but one that looks good. It's also nice to know you are supporting someone who has a face and an identity. When I buy from autowarehouseonline.org I always wonder who I'm supporting. Thanks for the info....
  13. My stock radiator is leaking from the plug and full of crud. I've read a bunch of posts about re-coring etc but in the end am I better off buying a aluminum one from the likes of ireland or a non OEM new one? I can't put a used and untested one in. I don't want to drill new holes. I realIy don't want to remove it, send to a shop and wait. So assume I will buy new... My buddy told me I can use a 320 plastic radiator... http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_parts/radiator/bmw/320i.html I just don't want to buy the wrong thing and want to buy today. I'm sure there are a million posts but just looking for what you would do in terms of reliability and cost. It would be shipping to NJ. Street driving only...
  14. Here is the thread I posted on the catch can. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/142936-valve-cover-breather/ I have it installed (actually ziptied) to the washer reservoir bracket until I sort out some stuff. It gets rid of the oily mist and a little on smell. Since all my seals are shot, I won't know how much smell I can eliminate when I replace the hood seals, side seals and those elephant trunk drains. I'm hoping alot. There are a lot of cheap options. I bought this one for the industrial look of it. Paul
  15. K & K Cars of the World Inc 5265 Route 9w Newburgh, NY 12550 (845) 562-4330 Good luck Paul
  16. It is def Chamonix and was marked that on a label under the hood.
  17. Thanks... As I am not installing it, I will talk to my guy after the trans goes in. He knows his stuff and suggested rather than trying to find a local place to get it premade. I will talk to him about the guy in pennsauken as I can drive there. Thanks.
  18. Ok.... So what am I doing wrong on the search function... I clicked on the little gear, typed driveshaft conversion or 5speed conversion... Most talk about sending your driveshaft in to be cut, shortened and created. Mechanic used to know of someone about 45 min away that did it. In the essence of time and reliability, I decided would buy one. I did use the search feature... The question is not making one, but buying premade ones. I saw Ireland has one, just wanted to know of other that may be out there Again, I did use the search function and eventually ended up at http://www.bimmers.com/02/upgrades/transmission.html
  19. I dropped my car off to have the 5 speed conversion done and after speaking with the mechanic it would seem more hassle to have a driveshaft made and I would just buy one... I know Ireland has one... any other companies making them... If so preference????
  20. I have no idea how long it has been there but it seems to be sunk in the ground a bit and there is algae growing on the passenger side.
  21. Saw this today in a car lot in Newburgh, NY. Couldn't check much. Engine dirty, Exterior wasn't rusty (I didn't get under it) and interior was ok... If anyone interested I can get the name of the place it is parked at. Last I was told he wanted 6K and would take 5K. It's been sitting for a long time and I'm sure negotiable... Figured someone may want to save it.
  22. I rebuilt my heater box and the process was challenging but not difficult. If you need a heater core, let me know. I can send you one for the shipping cost. The people here are pretty nice and they have done the same for me. I would recommend checking the core as they are used and untested. I have them left over from used heater boxes I used for parts. Paul
  23. I'm installing a Carter pump in the trunk with a fuel filter before the pump. Can I do away with the filter i have now before the carb or is it better to have both? Thanks.
