2002 Stage 1.5 Head (E21 Type) , 8Kmiles On The Rebuild

I've got a stage 1-2ish head that was built for me 25 years ago by Rick Kiceniuk in NJ.

If you know Rick, you know he is the winningest SCCA 2002 racer in the eastern USA (and maybe the country). He is well known as building the best 2002 ITA/B motors plus motors for a number of other categories (BMW motors).

Anyway, this was a rebuild he did for me and I ran it for 8k miles and 5 years with dual Weber 40DCOE's on ti manifolds/linkage and a std Stahl header.

It has a 300deg Norris cam, and stock valves/rockers/springs. It was lightly ported, and got new shafts and other new parts as Rick felt necessary. I don't remember what was reused and what was replaced. It idles fine at 900rpm and pulls well to nearly 6500rpm. It was lightly ported.

Comes with the 32's.

I believe it's ready to bolt on and go, and will run fine with a 32/36 Weber or 40 DCOE's as long as they're choked down appropriately. used 32mm for in-town and winter drivability or 34's for enthusiast use.

I also have tha 2002ti sidedraft intake manifold set and original linkage, which is the best setup, IMHO, for sidedraft Webers. Trivial to synchronize, never goes out of synch, and linkage is simple/direct with only hard rods (no cables). see this link for an opinion on this setup: http://www.bimmers.com/02/upgrades/engine.html

Head with v cover: asking $350 obo

BMW 2002ti manifolds and linkage for sidedraft carbs: needs one ball-end replaced due to weak spring, comes with a coolant bypass pipe. Maybe the IE intake manifold is better, but this is period correct. Not sure about value, but I've seen just the manifold for around $300 (on line, per pair). Make me a fair offer for the manifolds, bypass pipe and solid linkage.

Is fuel efficiency really what we need most desperately? I say what we really need is a car that can be shot when it breaks down.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
