to remove seat mounts or not

I have taken everything off my 1974 tii (except the front and rear suspension) - and have finally started the restoration process. I am trying to be meticulous - as this is going to take a long time and cost a ton of money - so it might as well be done right. I have cleaned the floor pan from the passenger side, and I realized that I cannot effectively get the area between the mount and the interior rocker panel. Should I remove the mount and get the area completely clean? Or am I asking for trouble when I have to re-install the mounts and have altered the geometry of the two mounts. Advice would be greatly appreciated.
