Guess I should have done a topic search before posting my querry this morning, or should have asked if anyone had any recent experience. I'm going to ask for a client contact list. Any other folks out there that do resto/rebuild work? I really don't have the space & tools to do the work myself. At this point, I'm willing to pay a few bucks (okay, more than a few) so I can drool over a 2002 in my garage.

Has anyone purchased a rebuild and/or done business with DCRA Select Classics in Dallas, TX?

I'm restoring my 68 and everytime I needed a part for the 2002 I went by select classics and each time John treated me fairly with a good price and free advice on how to work on the car. If it's something I couldn't do I brought it to them and got done in a very short time. Never had any issues. I know many here maybe ready to bash them but it will be a shame on my end not to express my positive experience at select classics. Very very helpful people there.

If you are seriously interested in investing on a restoration there, I suggest go by and speak to John and see the cars that are there. Get everything down in writing and have a open discussion.

That's good to know, Ray. :)

I'm not wild about having this kind of discussion publicly. I'd rather have it person-to-person.

From my perspective, I'll give anyone who cares to dial me up my view of what they did well, what they didn't do well, what I still needed to do after I got the car, and what effort and time and money it took to get it to the point where I can now easily and reliably drive it 20 miles each way to work every day (which I do). My views are informed by some excellent '02 mechanics who have worked with me (and the car) since I took delivery, in addition to some other very knowledgable '02 owners who have been over the car. It was a long journey--much longer, harder, and more expensive than I expected--and I don't want to trivialize it in a pithy post.

My bottom line is that I now--after a LOT of effort--have a car that I love and love to drive. My only motivation for even weighing in on this topic in the first place is that I feel a sense of responsibility to help relative newbies (like I was) make a good decision for themselves, one way or another.

Well good!

Hope you can bring it to The Vintage and other gatherings! Eureka Springs (Mid Am 02 Fest and drive) is always nice as well!

Cheers,
