Hard to say for certain, but the grilles appear to be black, which normally indicates a front clip swap as a result of an accident. The square tails had different (black) front grilles.

That said, someone could have simply painted them black. That seems to happen a lot, too.

I also live in the Phx area and spoke to the owner yesterday. Nice fellow- the car sounded decent for the first few minutes he described it...then he casually mention that the car had been rear-ended hard enough to require "rear clip and front clip" replacement- apparently it was a hard enough hit to send him into the bumper of the car in front of him. So if you look at it, you may want to examine very closely the repaired areas and see if the panels align correctly. I was interested until he mentioned the accident damage, but I figure his price reflects that. He also mentioned the gas tank needed replacement as the car was hit hard enough to bend the tank filler.

Regardless, nice to see another AZ owner- we still need to get everyone in the PHX area together for a local meetup!

those are sweet recaros and the mesh headrests are rare. look to be in nice shape too. the could sell for some real dollars in no time.

Very interesting! Yeah now I know that its been in a wreck I am not sure.. but there could be the possibility that they repaired it well. I still might go take a look at it. It's just hard to find 002s for sale in AZ. It's all a learning process.
