getrag 232 into '76

Not to sound ignorant, but if the stupid hat fits....Will a Getrag 232 (232.0.139.00) fit in a 76 that had a 242 that is now rotten. Mods necessary, or plug and play? thanks.

Yes. The 232 is a bit narrower than the 242 mainly because of the clutch slave cylinder position. On the 232 it is lower and won't hit the trans tunne. In fact, I think the '76 had a 232 as original eqt. Make sure the person that put in the 242 didn't change things around. I'm prettty sure that the 232 will fit.

Will fit but you need a new slave. The 242 came standard on later cars, probably the original one still in.
